Doing the clutch on the Pan, and I am *really* struggling with the gasket on the clutch cover. I've got it off the crankcase, but the residue on the cover is a *bastard*. It's rock hard, and stuck like the proverbial to a blanket. I've never known anything like it, a blade just bounces off. Fucking stuff. -- Wicked Uncle Nigel - Podium Placed Ducati Race Engineer as featured in Performance Bikes and Fast Bikes WS* GHPOTHUF#24 APOSTLE#14 DLC#1 COFF#20 BOTAFOT#150 HYPO#0(KoTL) IbW#41 SBS#39 OMF#6 Enfield 500 Curry House Racer "The Basmati Rice Burner", Honda GL1000K2 (Falling apart) Kawasaki ZN1300 Voyager "Oh, Oh, It's so big" Suzuki TS250 "The Africa Single" Honda ST1100 wiv trailer

I always used gasket removal spray such as the one in the link below. If you leave it to soak then I found it'd remove anything I ever tried it on. http://www.lawson-his.co.uk/scripts/products.php?cat=Gasket Removers btw, I might have something useful for your workshop sitting in my van. Do you still waste time sweeping up swarf off the floor and struggling to remove it from awkward little corners in your machines? http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/p...-swarf-collector/path/metal-lathes-milldrills I've got a spare one and it's yours for a beer. It's obviously not a brand new one because I'm a **** and I want the better one for myself but it works perfectly well.
Must be a Honda standard. The Wing's got the same gasket on the clutch cover, despite having been removed at least three times over the years. It came off almost intact, with only a small smidgeon on the engine side. A smear of blue Hylomar, and everything's hunky dory. -- | ___ Salad Dodger |/ \ _/_____\_ GL1500SEV/CBR1100XXX/CBX1000Z |_\_____/_| ..89938../..25562.../..31896. Sharpen the fucker then. <mumbles> you can't do **** all with a blunt knife except cut yourself badly </m> Better still take the dremel to it. Plastic Gasket Inna Tube, *the* proper stuff for discerning bodgers.
There's a spray chemical thingy for just such situations. Sorry though, I can't remember what it's called but I've used it and it works. (Not that that's any help mind) It'll be on Google somewhere though. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Andy Bonwick Tried to track some down today, couldn't get any. Acetone and elbow grease did the job. My fucked wrist hurts. A lot. Ooh! That looks very handy. I shall buy you beer at Chimay. Wicked Uncle Nigel banged the rocks together and they said : But it won't help clean up all that plastic swarf round the lathe
and if you can't get the Ambersil stuff locally Carb Cleaner often does a decent job of taking old gasket off.
