Guess who left the disc lock on as he was leaving work?

Damage is so far limited to a broken indicator lens[1], which has been
lashed up with gaffa tape. I won't really know if there's anything else
broken until I can be arsed to look, which may be some considerable
    time.

[1] Now starts the search for a new one, I haven't a clue what the ****
the front indicators came off. I found them in my box of bits.

That's just as bad as starting the bike after realising the neutral
    light isn't on.

    Not that I would know

Well, there's a pair of CB750 indicators close to hand in the garage,
but they're so big they will likely drag down the terminal velocity of
the SOlittleCB to a safe amount ...

Bugger. It's only half as bad - as long as no-one saw you :O)
I did this last year. Disk lock came round and smashed the caliper on
the CBR400RR snapping (only) the mounting bracket.

Or going to pull away, when the neutral light _is_ on.

    In a crowded place.

    With a race can.

I wouldn't have been too bothered if it had done this kind of damage, I
have enough spares to build a complete running bike and another rolling
chassis. I'm just glad it happened to the SOCB and not my ZZR11.

..... Or starting a Z1000 MkII at the same time as two yoofs go "Wow a
Kawa thou" and "having" to pull a cracking, stonking wheelie .... and
discovering the steering still locked .... not that I'd know .... la la

It's the small offs that do the most psychological damage y'know.

After showing me round and explaining all the house stuff, I bade hime
farewell got on my bike, waved a cheery goodbye and ...... shot forward
    2 inches.

Thats a bit harsh Pip, anyone could leave a disc lock on, and it's his bike
    after all.

Robbo; what fuckwittery did you snip and from whom?

Look at your post. There's no quoted text or more importantly
attribution of quoted text to anyone. We don't know, or care, who
you're throwing your rattle at so you might as well have done this in
    email.

Please can you sort out your posting so we can see *who* you're
    responding to.

Yes, I know I can look at the header and click on the last article
number in the list but ICBA.

    Unexpected responses on uk.r.m. #3.
Oh, yes. Hopefully for the whole duration (apart from Saturday at
Oulton, spannering for TeamUKRM), so that'll be three hangovers and
two inches on the waist minimum.

Disc lock? Accident waiting to happen IMO, best left alone. The only one I
ever had was thankfully so shite that, when the inevitable occurred, it
sheared off with an almighty bang (is there any other sort?), doing no
damage to the bike at all, although it would probably have bested a modern
four-pot caliper and floating disc. I figured this was a kind of best-case
scenario and left it at that.

I have a piece of tube on my disk lock key, to lock my disk lock I take
it off and then put the tube on my ignition key. Then, when I return to
my bike I can't do the falling off thing.

Not, that I've not done this before... went to a technical presentation
with about 250 of my colleagues, left and there was a big queue of cars,
got onto my ZXR750 feeling awfully smug... fell off in front of lots of
    people- most of them laughing.
