I've seen a few come up on eBay in the last few months, otherwise try
the usual breakers - Sherlocks, Motorworks, Motobins, etc. You didn't
say if you wanted MPH or km - the latter will be rarer over here.

On mine the outer casing is slowly depolymerizing, becoming brittle and
prone to cracking. I guess they're all like that now, so an exact match
    might be just as bad.

Think i've got a km/h one with a cracked glass in the cellar somewhere.Think its
    off an 84 R80
so have no idea if it will fit or even if it works but you're welcome to it....

Oooh ta, that might just do the job, where are you?

    A Roundtank in bits? I have a 1925 996 V Twin M4 Matchless in large bits...

I'm in Harrogate but I expect it wouldn't cost much to post , depending on where
    you are of course.
The Roundtank is in small rusty bits at the moment - its one of those get round
to it one day projects which so far has taken 15 years....

  6. Our bike club has a fully restored Round Tank, which was in bits for 20
years until one or two of our blokes put it back together a couple of
    years ago.

Green it is. Wiv lots of brass.

Is yours a two-speeder or (gasp!) three speeder?

    It could be either :)
I've got several frames, engines and 2 and 3 speed gearboxes but
the plan is to restore it as a 1926 3 speed de luxe.I'll have a fair
few bits to make including the rear brake assembly as thats completely missing.
As you no doubt know both brakes operate on the rear wheel - i've the bits
    activated
by the front brake lever but nothing thats operated by the foot brake.
It probably wont make much difference anyway - top whack is meant to be
40mph but I dont think i'll want to go there .....

  8. That's right. There's a sort of bicycle affair and a kind of primitive
railway block brake. Two brakes on the rear wheel and absolutely nothing
    on the front.

I think we've had about 35mph out of ours.

Here's a pic of it, taken at the AVAC classic rally in France, a couple
    of years ago:

I don't know if the carb is original. On that rally, it would run
happily for maybe 10 miles before overheating. Setting the ignition
timing was very much a hit-and-miss business.

Nice to see one being used rather than displayed - the carb looks like the
    shiniest bit :)
I've got a parts book for 1925 if you ever need any photocopies.

Many thanks for your offer however the need for a speedo is now shelved
as mine now works, however the oddometer does not count up, I can live
with this as I intend to sell the r80 very shortly to fund a new project.
