You only had a couple more to go before you got to the hard questions
    about tyres.

    Nev..
82% but I had to make my best guess all the pulley questions because
managed to go to a school which completely avoided any sort of physics
    tuition in science class...

ahhh the review button.. it was some gear questions I stuffed up, and
got all the pulley ones correct. The balloon question has me puzzled...
why would the atmospheric pressure on the outside of balloons change?

No - consider a fan going 'forward' blows air. If you blow air back into
that fan (turned off) it goes backwards. If two fans are facing each other,
one blowing onto the other, the powered one is going forward and the other
will go backward, and since they are facing 180 degrees opposed, going in
    the same direction.

I expected to do badly, and did. 66% (which was actually a hell of a lot
better than I had expected, to be honest!) Having said that, though, it was
a very shitty test of raw aptitude. Some questions (but not many!) required
a bit of logic and aptitude that was independent of learned stuff. The test
as a whole was far too dependent upon a knowledge of certain learned terms
and principles! This whole idea runs counter to the entire notion of
"aptitude" or natural ability/affinity, so calling it an aptitude test is a
bit dishonest.... Aptitude cannot 'divine' the difference between
crankshaft/camshaft and whatever those other options were in that particular
question if a person has no idea what those things even ARE!.... this test
is just like so many other "culturally biased" IQ tests....

I tried it again after a couple of beers because I missed the review
button the first time round. I thought I put all the same answers bar
one which I knew I fucked up on and the second time I got 90%. But at
least I got to review the wrong ones...

yes, they weasel out of that by saying "commonly known concepts and
terms" but that's exactly what culturally biased IQ tests do too.

I got 88%, got the planetary gears one wrong, looked at my answer and
thought "why did I say that?".

The rotating gears and rotating pulley ones were about logic, pretty
well all the others required some teaching - even the pressure/volume
ones need you to know Boyle's Law or at least the definitions of
pressure and volume so you can derive same.

    Commonly known to WHOM?

but that's exactly what culturally biased IQ tests do too.
Boyle? Who is this Boyle? I once taught a lad called Boyle.... his Law was
"whatever I f*cken say, Miss!" which didn't quite value-add anywhere that it
    counted..... ;-)

In this case, the WHOM might be guessed at by the rest of the website...
Ford Diesel Technicians... in which context this test is pretty much
    'culturally' spot on.

and they didnt say whether the balloons were all made from the same stuff :)
    I just assumed they were....

No the question said the atmospheric pressure was the same.
    Had me stumped as well.

Ahh.. I didn't read the first bit about them all containing the same
    amount of gas.

It said they all had the same amount of gas. If one of them was
smaller, then it was being compressed by something....

I'll have to have another look at that picture it seemed they were all
    the same size
serves me right for skimming through the questions.

Hehe I said exactly the same thing to myself with that question. There were
a few forehead-slapping moments when reviewing my results (76%)

    Cheers,
    Dale.
