Oh okay. I thought I recalled a purchase price ceiling etc I take it I need not ask if I fall under the category of fat bastard 250cc exemption? === I ASK the questions around here. It is for YOU to respond "HOW HIGH?" whenever I say "JUMP!"! Now then, this "AFRICA RUN": Whereabouts in Africa do you plan to ride? So far, all I see are references to France, Spain and Little INGERLANDSTAN. Chumps!

You're not very good at this. You are not worthy of troll-baiting. You've already asked this question, and I've already answered it. You obviously didn't read what I wrote when you asked the question originally.

I think you just ruined the surprise...... Depending on numbers/how annoyed SWMBO is with me in the preceding weeks, then I have no reservations on freeing up bed/floor/garage space and dusting down the barbie before, possibly, tagging along for the bit from here on.... I think you're right about needing a stop - when I rode the 955 down here I left Derby at3pm, got the chunnel but jst had to stop near Orleans at around midniht for a sleep stop as it was draining the life from me. Started again at 5am mind... And I did do a few days over 400 miles on the Aus trip. On a Pegaso. They were long, long days..... Dave
380 from my gaff Autoroute puts that at 460 by the shortest route, 480 by quickest and 471 avoiding tolls. Avoiding tolls takes 12 hours, including "splash n dash" refuels and a 15 min stop every 1.5 hours (fag, piss, coffee, restore circulation to extremities, line of whatever stimulant you choose)... no lunch break. Apart from the Cahors dash, would it not make more sense to try for 300 miles each day? 5 days in each direction on really slow and ancient bikes sounds much more reasonable. It would make the journey more pleasant and give some flexibility for stops. Is this meant to be a human endurance test, or a bit of a laugh? I reckon it makes sense not to push people too hard. Champ says... The later ones that shared the 305 styling were belt driven, for a few years too. They were good enough bikes if treated to regular oil changes and suspension link greasings.

You could do that distance in 14 hours, including extended refuelling and premixing stops, getting lost, dining in considerable style, losing keys, making up the time/distance with extended autobahn thrashes... Sure, it would be lovely, much more civilised. Depends how many of the runners can afford the extra time. A quest, an adventure, a voyage of self-discovery. Ride your own ride.

TBH, the against-the-clock factor is important - otherwise, it's just an extended bimble. Fucknoe, this is deadly serious.
Well... it will take a good chunk out of 2 weeks, all told. 12.5 days, door to door, for me. That includes the trip down to Chepy without an overnight in Kent and the 470 to Cahors..... With the same in reverse. Yeah, but riding a shagged out bike can have its problems and losing touch with the group would compound them.... unless the attitude was "**** you"... BTW..... Honda Helix..... A chap did an Iron Butt run on one.... Hmmm 250... low power.... -- Cheers!
