The plan has been a bit stalled today, for "domestic" reasons.

Shame... all this talk of side cars, got me thinking how I could put a
chair on my FZR250. After about 10 minutes of thought, I decided that it
would turn a sweet handling thing into an instrument of torture.

Let's put it this way: the tractor cost me less than the labour and parts to
have a sidecar professionally installed on the Drifter. And the tractor's
    got reverse.

Get an old heap with a chair already fitted. Top speed, engine capacity and
17" wheels aren't factors you need to worry about.

  4. Well thought, that man. Actually, I don't think that the MZ has any
advance-retard mechanism at all. I cant think of many points-ignition
    strokers I've owned that have.

Putting it that way, it makes a lot of sense.
True, taking a sweet handling bike, then making it handle like a pissed
jelly fish does seem like a bit of a waste. I've been thinking of
getting either a trike or an outfit for a while, just had more bikes
than money, so it's never happened.

IIRC the RD200 had one with some kind of weighted mechanism that sat
outside of the dynastart, but I could be wrong. Other than that, can't
    think of any.

  7. I wonder why not? Also, I wonder if electronic ignition strokers had one
    built-in or not.

Early MZ ES had advance bob weights - later ones didn't.

You're not. The RS200 has a couple of spring loaded blob weights which
advance the timing at about 3000RPM.

IIRTC the RD500 had a little black box which adjusted the timing
according to engine speed and throttle position.
