  1. Now I've upgraded to Ubuntu 9.04, when I post a message, Pan closes down.
    Anyone else experienced this?

Nope. Pan on 8.04 then 8.10 then 9.04 now 9.10. All played fine.

What you need is a decent OS like Windows.

  7. Great. Now I know that it has happened to others with no answer from
anyone. I actually pulled the "stable" source code to build it, but it
won't build for various reasons ie; bugs (trying to increment non-l-
values etc. and some debug code left in).

****, I just fixed all those, and now there's a stack more.

TBF, sometimes it closes, sometimes it doesn't. It post whatever, I can
easily reopen it, and there'll be another one along in April. I can live
with it. Actually, I didn't get problems until 9.10. Have you tried
running from a terminal and seeing what the error is? I once cleared a
    problem by deleting ~/.pan2

I'm going to persevere with this home-built one for now. 0.14.2 or summat.

Unfortunately it's seems to be down to Pan or Thunderbird, and the
    latter is a bit shit.

Cue people recommending Agent on Windows.

  15. Now using Knode. Seems ok. But since this 9.04 upgrade, I'm seeing other
programs suddenly vanishing as well. For example all video programs.

Oh I forgot about Evolution of course, but that's probably for the best.
I'll take a look at that. I actually like some of the KDE stuff over
Gnome and have been thinking about switching desktops. Might try
    kubuntu on livecd first.

I tried a kde desktop a couple of years back. It was a bit sluggish, but
very fluffy and stuff like samba becomes transparent. I run several kde
progs now, but with the runtime library. Kaffeine's good as is k9copy.
