  5. :) I'm doing an album now. Couldn't do much last weekend because D ended
up whizzing off to Adelaide for the Mallala round, with the camera. How
rude!! Some of those pix from the waterfront came out really well, and the
    track pix are excellent.

Hmmm... that's the second time I've made a cop blush! :-D

  6. OK then......... first link is the general sightseeing stuff, I seem, in
retrospect, to see a substantially phallic theme to Perth. Odd, that!

Anyway, we discovered that the big grey roos roaming around weren't enough,
the locals had to install big bronze ones as well.

Talking about bronze, a lot of big bells have been imported from the UK, and
some dear cherub installed them in a rather swish glass and copper building
near the river. Fabulous, with a great view too. It would make Rose a
wonderful new house after she sells the old one... great doorbells too.

A trip to one of the local wineries by way of the river was very pleasant.
We also had a tour of the Mint, but they don't like you taking pix there,
and I couldn't afford to souvenir any of the gold, so you'll just have to
imagine that. A trip to the museum (complete with a whole primary school's
    worth of children...) was interesting.

And a certain handsome member of the WA police force took us on an
afterhours tour of Perth and Fremantle, which was lovely!

The last pic is one of the rescue cars at the track.

Then we move on to the interesting stuff. For the sake of privacy I can
only show you unidentifiable crash pix, which limited the field somewhat, as
Racesafe uses the photographs to maintain a record of rescues performed.
However, there should be enough here to be at least vaguely interesting.

The rather large sandtraps at Wanneroo make rescues rather a daunting feat,
particularly Turn 7 at the end of that massively long back straight. One of
our riders did an impressive Superman impersonation there and ended up in
hitting the wall. The last 3 pix show the distances involved, all through
sand. The riders hate the stuff, because it gets into their eyes and
mouths, and all through their leathers.

Deb spent most of her weekend in the back of the SS Commodore chase car,
doing quick laps. I spent most of mine in the back of the Cross-8 ute or
the trailer, picking up broken bikes. Heaps of fun doing that for a change!
When I wasn't there, I was in the med centre working on the riders. What a
    way to spend the weekend!!!

All in all, an interesting trip. Love the city, love the racing. the
track - well, between the big sand traps and the med centre on the inside
with the pits on the outside, it could use a little rethinking. It made our
job a challenge, but not impossible. And it made us appreciate the
facilities at Phillip Island all the more.
