Having had the news on in the background the whole thing is
reminiscent of the intro to zero wing..

In A.D. 2010 News was Beginning.
    MAITLIS: What happen ?
    PESTON: We get signal.
PESTON: Somebody set up Murdoch the bomb.
    MAITLIS: What !
    MAITLIS:: Main screen turn on.
    KUENSBERG: It's no announcement yet!!
CABLE: How are you gentlemen !!
CABLE: All your takeover are belong to us.
CABLE: You are on the way to destruction.
    MURDOCH: What you say !!
CABLE: You have no chance to survive make your time.

Maybe they can shut up about Snowmageddon now.

    Yes.

Just an off the cuff parody from the the beginning of that 'all your
base are belong to us' thing.. an ancient Internet meme. I don't
    expect you'll recall such things.

Anyway, I just read a humorous comment elsewhere that's probably more
    your cup of tea.

Vince v Murdoch - it's that age old argument Cable or Satellite!

Pretty crappy treatment of Vince though when he told the undercover
journo's he was speaking 'off the record' to what he believed were a
    couple of constituents.

Anything for a story eh ?

The Telegraph comes out of this looking really shabby. It bad enough that
its a Tory rag but they have made it clear that they are also
completely lacking in integrity. Apart from the deception in obtaining
the story they then witheld the most newsworthy part of the interview
because it didn't correspond with their business interests. The Torygraph
is very anti the Murdoch bid to take over BSkyB so they left out the bits
about Cable's opposition to the bid for fear that it might strengthen
Murdoch'd hand in the negotiations. However, it was leaked by one of
their staff who couldn't stomach the cop-out.

Oh please. Clearly from the tape one of them was a giggly little girl
doing the "impressed by power" thing. And he fell for it dick, line and
    sinker.

He's old enough to know better, and he's *supposed* to be smart. Fucking
    idiot.

If he had any balls he'd resign but then he should have done that over
    the tuition fees issue anyway.

Please, doesn't matter how smart you are, even the smallest dick will
overpower the largest brain when it comes to a woman fawning. Double
whammy if she is beautiful and a triple whammy if she is intelligent and
    witty.

Don't get me wrong - I agree with the policy itself, but I did think
that VC was wrong to oversee a policy that he & the LibDems were 100%
against prior to them getting into power.

More fool me for wanting MPs to have some convictions and some balls,
    eh?
Yes, well 9k is the headline rate that everyone picks up on. AIUI,
it's 6k max in the main and up to 9k in exceptional circumstances.

And for students from sufficiently poor backgrounds, if the fees are
6k/yr then the first year has to be free, if they're 9k then the first
two years have to be free.

So for them it costs the same to do a 9k/yr course as it currently does
a 3k/yr course, and it's cheaper to do either than a 6k/yr course. And
none of it has to be paid upfront.

DOWN WITH THE ETON ELITE! etc.

Yet, in some ways the Torygraph may have shot themselves in the foot -
unless they really want Murdoch's bid to go through.

    How can it fail now?

Rob, you shouldn't really, it's not appropriate.

    I wouldn't say you're disliked (though I am a bad judge of emotions) -
I'd class you more as a pet halfwit.

Like Auvache, only smelling of tripe and onions.
