So is this a real Jota?

Look at the Q&As at the bottom.

I'd have thought the only way to check would be Slater's records, and I
thought they had all Jota records, but...

I'ver never even heard of a green 1976 Jota. 3Cs, yes, but not Jotas.

Oddly every one you see for sale these days seems to be from a
    'missing' period in Slaters records.....

Heh. I've never heard of any 'missing period' in Slater Bros' records,
as it happens. I thought their records were the definitive statement.
I spoke to Richard later myself on the subject, a couple of years ago,
and he never mentioned anything about missing records. He makes a nice
living charging (I think) £40 or so for every look-up on his registry.

IIRC, Jotas got the high-lift 4C cams, high compression pistons and
the loud exhaust and the rest was basically 3C, so it's very easy to
mock one up. I can't remember if the Jota got bigger valves as well -
    don't think so.

I think this one could well be a fake, but it's still a lovely, lovely
    bike.

I bet you have. There was another for sale a few months ago with the
same story, & I'm sure you were involved in that thread.

Sorry, I meant from Slaters themselves. AFAIK their records are
    complete.
