    What a twat.

In England, they first came for the speeding motorists, and I didn't
speak up because I wasn't a speeding motorist. Then they came for those
gathering, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't part of a gathering.
Then they came for the journalists, and I didn't speak up because I
wasn't a journalist. Then they came for the supposed terrorists and I
didn't speak up because I wasn't a supposed terrorist. Then they came
for me -- and by that time there was nobody left to speak up.

They'd have to take us somewhere, and who wants to be seen going
    *anywhere* with a ginger?

Aye, you're slow as **** and you've got no mates.
A very serious point, though ... why _didn't_ they come for the Gingas
    first, eh?

So, who's taking bets on the next appointment of WitchFinder General?

  12. **** me, there are some real closet Nazis and open-class fuckwits in the
    comments page.
    ----------------------------
"I have no fear of these new laws. I will never be accused of a
terrorist act, because I act as a responsible citizen in a free country.
My civil liberties will not be infringed."

"If you have nothing to hide the laws should not affect you, whether of
British citizenship or not! Too much talk and not enough action."

"It is time for us to have some strong rules and punish those who do not
    follow."

"Generally there is no smoke without fire - police do not arrest people
unless there is a good reason."
    ----------------------------

All of the above were probably said by a lot of folk in 1935 onwards, in
a little place over on the Continent.

But for sheer kneejerk fuckwittery, this one takes it.

"I just wish these civil rights groups would go and protest to Al Qaeda
instead of trying to protect terrorists."

I agree with that, sort of. I see no reason why despots of all sorts
shouldn't be told they are cunts. After all I can do this with GW and
    Teflon easily enough.

War and a dastardly enemy to keep us scared.
CCTV everywhere to keep an eye on us.
Subtle changes to the language so that we can't express certain thoughts.
Rewriting history to keep it pure.
    A disenfranchised mass.
Ever more rules of the state that we must obey.
Even more cameras to check that we're obeying the rules.
    And now this.

There's a book in there somewhere, should we write it? Perhaps we could call
    it "2004".
