.... and of course if it doesn't have any, you need to find out if it
wasn't supposed to have any or if someone forgot to put them back in.

Heh. when I did the first oil change on the GN250, I discovered that
some genius had left out the little spring that holds the filter in
position and performs the same function as BMW's shims.

A swift hunt through my Bumper Bike Box of Bolloxed Bike Bits[1]
    unearthed a suitable replacement, though.

[1] I assume everyone on this NG has something similar [2]
[2] Contents: odd fasteners, brackets, slightly damaged parts that are
too good to be thrown away...

Full of items too good to be thrown away? That'll be my garage then.

A garage full of Timoed machinery is `items too good to be thrown
    away'?

.... double-filament bulbs "because the other filament still works"....

  8. Wotcha.
The front running lights on the Tiger coloured trike use stop / tail bulbs .
.. . . . as long as the tail bit is blown. Now if it's the brake light
filament that blows, then I tend to throw 'em away. 50 / 50 chance of
    getting a good 'un.

  10. Ah, the 50/50 argument. Like that dipshit Wagner who reckoned there
was a 50/50 chance the LHC would destroy the Earth: "Well, it might destroy
the Earth, or it might not. See, 50/50!"

Quite a big box, it is...

    How much is it?

I buy Comma Classic 20/50 - in a metal can - it appears to be the same
    colour/smell as Duckhams Hypergrade - ?10.50 5L

    It's about 16 quid.

Haven't had time to do it yet [1]- so may order some 'classic' oil from
    somewhere now.

[1] Been busy sorting the Alfa 156 - Sillyspeed split a pipe, so I
stripped a load of stuff back to investigate. Found out that the
'specialist' who fitted a 'new' actuator had fitted a used one, or
hadn't replaced it at all.... a couple of calls to Consumer Direct later
and they've agreed to fit a new one and fix the leak ASAP.

Mine has an oil cooler. I don't appear to have the special cooler bleed
    bolt.

And it makes access very tight for removing the filter cover - the BoL
doesn't help much with this procedure.

    Fecking over-engineered Kraut crap.

One day i'll get round to putting Debian on the Acer - none of the above
    whinges apply.

Did you know you can replace the Tellytubby desktop on Playtime Xan
dross with a proper KDE? I'm looking into it ATM - I think I'm going to
have to use a bit of a hack to change the root passworm to do so, though.
