I used to climb quite a lot. The reason I don't do it now, is that to
actually do it outdoors requires someone else. Most of my hill
walking is on my own, so I tend to shy away from serious scrambling or
climbing because it's not really safe or possible on your own. I've
got god knows how many Munros/Welsh 3000s/Wainwrights etc to do that
don't require me to climb, so I'm happy with my lot.

I also don't need another expensive hobby :)

This is true, but I've got plenty of good weather/summer routes to
    cover off first.
It's not that I've got a problem with climbing or don't want to learn.
As I said in my response to Champ, I do this stuff on my own, so that
rules out serious scrambling or climbing on safety grounds. I like
the flexibility of just being able to go off and walk up something,
without having to organise a bunch of other people to come with me.

It's easily done, especially in those sort of conditions, which are
    deceptively hot.

Yeah, that was the decision I took on it. When I got there last time,
it was all completely in cloud, and I'd never done that route before
so had no idea how far I had yet to go. The ground was very slippy
underfoot, and I was on my own. So I made the choice that I didn't
really want to risk a slip and came back down.

Tell me about it. After his day at Fontainbleau at Easter the lad
insists he needs his own high tech bouldering mat (he shared mats with
the other Wolf Mountain crowd at Font). Despite having a "bang on the
head" falling off his BMX bike on Saturday which required a
precautionary trip to A&E, followed by a sleep over party at a mates
which seems to have not actually featured any sleep, he seconded 'The
Sloth' (HVS 5b) at the Roaches yesterday. "He's not right."
