    Cross-posted, f/u not set.

Has any/everyone seen this about a ride to the motorbike museum in Feb?

Motorcyclists from all over the UK , starting from various points
(North, East, South and West) will meet up in their major cities at a
pre-determined time. They then move to the next city in the route and
join up with others. At each city, along the way or even before the
event we are collecting for the Tsunami Earthquake Appeal.

We understand that not everyone will have the time or possibility to
travel from their end of the country to the midlands and back so we
appreciate that some bikers may only turn up to the gathering near them,
others may meet up and travel for part of the distance while the
remainder will, hopefully, find it irresistible to take part in the
whole event, from home, to the Museum and back.

The ultimate end point is The National Motorcycle Museum in Sollihull,
West Midlands . This seemed like the most logical place both
geographically and because the very nature of the museum shows what
bikes and bikers are about. I have a confirmed date of February the 6th,
which is a Sunday (Bikers love Sundays) - I shall be hearing from the
Museum shortly to confirm this date.

How do we know its not a scam?
Hope it isn't. But I can see how it very easily could work as one.

That's not been suggested elsewhere. I can see what you mean, though,
but early days yet. I've sent an e-mail, lets see what transpires.

    And the reply was this:

"We updated the website with our Registered Donor reference in
there today so, if people don't trust us, they can contact The
Disasters Emergency Committee and verify we are legitimate."

    and from the web-site:

"The event will take place on February the 6th and all funds
raised shall be given to DEC (UK Registered charity no: 1062638,
this event is a registered donor with the record number: TEA
FUNDR 117) after all money from sponsorship, collections on the
day and proceeds of the auction have been collected."

I'm now e-mailing dec.org.uk to get final confirmation, though
    personally I have no doubt.

I'm PGP signing this lest anyone thinks I might be a sock-puppet for a
    scam...

No reply to me, but MCN have taken it on board, and more than a few
    friends have received confirmatory emails.

Please revise your Latin, and your definitions of current English nouns,
that is English as she is spoke... (It's viruses, not virii...)

Could be a good ride-out. There's at least one group starting at the
    ACE, times TBA.

It seems there is a call for a West London group for those who still
haven't taken their test, but still want to join in. There might be two
    (or more) routes.
