Snow - not iSnow, either.

It's legging it down here - from being cool and calm, with dry roads,
suddenly the wind freshened to half a gale, the temperature plunged
    and it started to snow.

Lots of little flakes, more like frozen raindrops, but nothing cute
about them. Not yer Jingle Bells scene, Oh **** Me, No. The wind was
whipping sheets and swirls of icy spicules past the window and
suddenly the road outside first turned white, then the kerbstones
disappeared and then the lawn merged into the white blanket all within
    ten minutes.

Now the flake size has increased and is remorselessly blanketing the
place. Lightning flashes, purple in colour, are the only illumination
to the yellow-grey underbelly of the lowering clouds which are only
briefly visible through the swirling curtains of flakes.

It's going to be a bad trip home, you workers ...

  3. Well, it would be. But I think you've had what we had.
It's now quite still, and deep and crisp and even.

I'm a worker and my trip home will be fine, particularly fine as that's
    where I'm working today.

I am supposed to be driving to the outskirts of London for a 10AM
    meeting tomorrow though.

    Poo.

I feel for you, I really do.

Just to make you feel better, I suggest you sit down in front of your
nice warm PC at home with a good strong pot of coffee and some bread -
then you can make toast on your monitor while you are writing VCDs ...

    said. Gosh.
Indeed. I haven't seen anything quiute like that for a long time.
    Proper, it is ;-)

  12. No kidding - here the fallen snow has turned to ice that must be a good inch
    thick.

It's on the cars as well, and it's the first time *ever* I'm glad I didn't
    bring the bike in.

Go to the pub, then get the bus home - and trim your line length to
    ~72 characters.

One is sensible, the other compulsory in order to be understood.

Both are the pleasant alternative ;-)

  16. It's begun here, too. Given a lack of experience on the bike, do you think it'd be a bad idea to take it home? Or should I anyway, given I've got to fall off it sooner or later (which almost happened thanks to a BMW turning right into me last night, but that is another story). Any thoughts?

Aye, that be the real thing :)
Indeed. I could just set light to some Essex types to keep warm
    though ;)

It depends how far you have to go, IMHO. If it's a long way (> 30
minutes normally) and you can do it by public transport, and where your
bike is is secure overnight, then I'd be tempted to leave it tonight and
    try again tomorrow.

    On the other hand... ;^)
