I heard you guys had some wild weather up there! We had snow in the mountains down here in San Diego; thunder n' lightning woke me up Saturday early am. Needless to say, the bike's all tucked in and going nowhere until this nonsense ends! It's raining a little now. -- -- Barb Chaplain, ARSCC "Comparing Scientology to a motorcycle gang is a gross, unpardonable insult to bikers everywhere. My housemate and I had a Perfect Timing Monent on Friday. I was a few minutes ahead of him on the ride home. It was a little rainy, there was the right amount of gusty wind, and as I approached home there was thudner and lightning. I parked my bike and left the doors open for John. As I was getting my riding gear off I heard him ride up and park. Right after the clang of the front gate came a fairly intense pitter-patter on the roof: hail. Lots of it. Pea-sized hail fell an inch thick in Sunnyside. A neighbor's kid, who had never seen snow, leapt outside and danced about, screaming, "Snow! Snow! Snow in San Francisco!"
A reporter for a radio station I listen to was stuck in it. He said somebody was skiing down 17... Yes, the snow level has been pretty low here for several days. The east bay hills are looking pretty impressive. Al Moore DoD 734
I took a spin by Alices on saturday. Snow level was down to about 1000 feet or so but the roads weren't too bad. Lots of snow up near Castle Rock with all kinds of clueless Californians out to enjoy it. The rangers had very wisely put out caution signs near the park to warn you of dim sorts pulling in and out of parking places. Lots of sand on the roads and occasional bits of slush, mostly on the centerline and between the tire tracks. one or two little skips from the back wheel but nothing real exciting. Maybe 10-15 bikes at Alices, mostly Beemers and KTMS. One brave soul crawling along 10 mph below the limit on a sportbike with clipons. After I got home I heard of snow on the beach down at Rio Del Mar. That's something I'm really sorry I missed seeing. Maybe next time.
