Sorry Mate I *Did* See You But I Carried On Anyway Because You Were
    Trying To Cut Me Up.

On the way to work this morning I'm getting lined up to turn into a side
road and am indicating away and lining up. There's a car parked on the
double yellows about 20-30ft from the junction so I'm having to go wide
    of the car.

Just as I get along side the car and I'm slowing and lining up for the
side road the car pulls out from the kerb and accelerates towards the
    space I'm aiming at.

Lots of horn action and I *stupidly* assume that once the driver sees
that they've pulled out on me they'll stop or at least slow enough for
me to pass in front. But oh, no, because they decided that I was cutting
them up, they carry on and their front wing contacts the Beemer's
    pannier.

Luckily I stayed on and kept it upright. She stops and starts shouting
at me about me cutting her up and when she's calmed down I explain some
"pulling out into moving traffic etiquette" to her.

Anyway I suggest we inspect for damage and there is a slight new mark on
the Beemer's pannier, but nothing compared with all the rest of the
marks that are on there. The pannier carcass is fine as are the brackets
    so the bike's fine.

The car on the other hand has a rather conspicuous scuff on the front
wing. The driver examines the front wing and declares there is no damage
to the car. OK, if she was looking at the correct wing, the one she hit
me with, then she might have noticed the scuff, but there you go, I
    wasn't going to tell her.

I gave her another talking to about pulling out the way she did, though
I don't think it did much good, and off she went on her merry way.

What did surprise me was just how shaken I was by the whole thing, even
though it was so slow, so minor and I stayed upright. Ah well, it gave
me an excuse to buy myself a poncey mocha coffee thing.

I can confirm that bit. Wept like a girl after embedding the sv650 into
    the side of some woman's 4x4 blind-mobile at 15-20mph.

Mind you, I also cried watching titanic, so I am a big pansy.

I got bumped and stayed upright by some gorgeous German bird in a left
hand drive Audi on that roundabout by the Tate and Lyle factory. At
first I was really angry with her, and then I just got really upset,
even though nothing bad had happened. Or maybe it was just a ploy to
get her to put her arm round me. I dunno. Still didn't get her phone
    number.
I was half-expecting to hear that the episode had inspired you to some
    energetic sex.

Some years ago I jammed my Guzzi under a German birds car. She kept
coming round to visit and see if I was alright - On a weekly basis...

....unfortunately she always appeared when either:

    (a) Other (mad) German bird I lived with was in

    or

    (b) I was about to go to work.

Give it time. You can't expect a man of Gyp's advanced years to get it

  8. This is where women have the advantage (1). Some girl pulled squarely out in
front of me on a roundabout this morning. She was looking straight at me and
smiled sweetly. Had it been a bloke I would have assumed from the smile that
he did it on purpose and chased him down accordingly (attitude obviously to
be adjusted according to the size of said man). As it was I thought "that's
cute" and carried on my merry way feeling slightly happier than when I
    entered the roundabout.

    (1) or men depending on your personal preferences.

I slung my old MTX125 into a Vovlo once. Didn't make me want to cry at all.
Well, I can understand that. It was shite

Was that the one with, oh, what his name, classic British actor, Peter
someone I think, he was also in a film about a train going across India with
lots of guns and angry natives and stuff. Bugger, I can picture his bloody
face but cannot recall his name. In A Night To Remember, wasn't he the chap
attempting to make a raft out of deck chairs or sommat.

It's going to bug me all day now, thanks a bunch mate.

The lead in ANTR was Kenneth Moore of "Reach for the Sky" and "Battle of
    Britain" fame.

As to the "train going across India with lots of guns and angry natives
and stuff" was quite a famous film but didn't have Kenneth Moore in it.

    That was Eddie Malin.

That's the chap, I had got to Moore, but got stuck on Peter, which I knew
wasn't right. A bloody good film it was.
Are you sure, wasn't it called Northwest Passage or summat similar (I CBA to
    google).
I was sure it was our man Moore

Northwest Frontier - More played Capt. Scott.

NW Passage was a Spencer Tracy movie about massacring Injuns, rather
    than Indians, iyswim.

I thought it was China not India. Or is that yet another film?
Something about the train being used to break out of the British
    stockade and escape the natives.

  17. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
Wasn't that the one where the spear-weilding natives robbed a bank and
attempted to escape by sinking an ocean liner?
