It must be said, it went a bit mouldy over the winter, the usual, it'll
    pass has not worked.

What does the FOAK reckon to clean/destink a lid. Fabreze springs to
    mind :(

Wash it, fill it with soapy water and give the insides a good cleaning then
leave in the air cupboard to dry fully

Febreze will only cover up the smell. Try one of the dry foam carpet
cleaners. After you see how much gunge comes out of the liner & foam you
might just go buy a new helmet...

Your local shop should have one or more products. At least they do where it
is warmer and we people sweat a lot. Some can be found here:

(I assume you have neither removable liner nor cheek pads).

    A Helmet Sanitiser! I couln't, I mean really couldn't go into a shop
    and ask for that.

Might go for the soaking approach.

    Well, I'm mystified.

Someone suggests some equestrian stuff, I suggest that Snowy would be
able to advise on that, and you lot get all uppity.

    You're all odd.

Uppity? That wasn't uppity, that was a sense of resignation to the
    inevitable.
    That's probably true.

BTW: Did you get my email regarding your kind offer last week?

I did not. The gmail address in the headers should work.

Piss, same as for trench foot. Tape up the vents and visor, brim it with
the amber nectar, leave it for a week to soak. Sorted.

You could get a cat to piss in it. After that the slight smell of
    mould won't really bother you.
