    Hi,

On my 1989 GS500 the clutch is recently slipping and I don't know how to
adjust it. This all started to happen after I borrowed the bike to a young
    male friend :)

I received a phone call late at night, the guy told me all of a sudden the
engine stopped driving the rear wheel, it would rev freely but the front
    sprocket was not spinning.

The bike was loaded onto a truck and ended up in a garage where I went to
work on it with a friend.

We found that there's a grub-screw on the left side of the bike behind a
little cover, the grub screw had a locknut and a slot on it so that it could
be turned into and away from the "engine" - this would adjust the clutch
until the bike would move forward.

Unfortunately after a lot of adjusting the bike would still slip at higher
RPM, it would pull nicely at low RPM but once in the powerband it would
    begin to rev out.

I should mention that while trying to adjust the clutch cable (before we
found the grub screw) we actually damaged the clutch lever adjuster, I will
look for a replacement today and install it but i'm not sure if this will
    end my problems.

Would anyone like to provide some insights into the problem ? I was recently
told that my clutch with "only" 41,000km should still have plenty of life
    left !

    Thanks !
