Sure - as I said, other people have definitely reported this, and,
    most often, with Mobil 1.

No, no, no. Generic foolishness is still tolerated, nay welcomed.

If it is clutch slip and it does sound very like it, you will often find
it at higher speeds in 4/5 gear, somewhere about where the engine is
working hard against the wind. Or you might care to experiment with
riding it against the brakes, a back brake should be sufficient.

  7. The CB500 has a cable operated clutch I think?
    Adjust it.

Given BGN has just come to biking from cars, has no experience with
them, doesn't to my knowledge have mechanically minded mates who know
about these things, how is he meant to gain the knowledge?

Did you suddenly absorb everything you needed to know by osmosis?

One of the functions of UKRM is that there are people who like all the
mechanical stuff and are happy to share that knowledge with us
    newbies.

Go read one of the books on your list you miserable git.

  10. I may be being thick but you own a Kawasaki ER5 and Mr Plastic Food
Container referred to a Honda CB500. Not the same bike the last time I
    looked.

I know they're different bikes. But the ER5 still has a cable
operated clutch though. I don't hop on every mistake everyone else
    makes, though.

  14. I'm not psychic am I?
I knew it was a 500 twin of some sort so likely to be a cable clutch.
Now, the next time you ask about bike problems, mention the type of
    bike.

If you've got a Haynes manual for it, why didnt you look up 'slipping
    clutch' in there first?

I didn't expect you to be psychic - I wasn't having a go at you
either. I'm very greatful for any assistance that anyone is able to
offer and don't reject any suggestions.

Paul Corfield was just being a bitch, not me.
I wasn't having a go! My knowledge of bikes: It has two wheels, in a
row along the bottom and it goes brum brum. I don't expect everyone
to look at my sig for types of bike.
The Haynes Manual scares me. It has black and white pictures and
    everything.

  16. Well there's a first time for everything I suppose. Even if your reply
is a joke - and to be honest I can no longer distinguish jokes from fact
in your posts - I think you're taking this all a bit too seriously.

Joke, dear. However, you can still have a HBAG number if you like.
How about a "HBAD" number instead? Handbags At Dawn?

  19. Calm down dear. It's only usenet.
I glanced in your sig, but TBH the ER5 really didnt spring out at me
amongst all the ICQ and MSN stuff. Try putting Kawasaki or summat by
    it.
Anyway, have you done the cable adjustment yet?

    I intended to...

But I went SHOPPING in the cage instead. I'll grab the Haynes manual
before I go to the land of nod to see what to do.
