I think the problem is that some (me included) can't really see where
the "rip-off" comes from. He offered you some money, you decided it
wasn't enough, no deal was done.

Oh yes, I do know but the tone of your post was a bit sniffy, you know.
Well, you're entitled to your opinion, but to me it felt like I was
being sniffed out for a mug punter.

as Dan pointed out, it's irrelevant really - he'll only stick about 500
miles on whatever it is in 3 years of ownership...

But.. how is it fraud? He didn't buy it off you with a rubber cheque. He
didn't give you fake money. He didn't buy it from you and then sell it for
£4k - he just offered you a price, you refused it - he said "Oh, I can't go
any higher, I won't make enough profit from the sale as I'm a dealer"

What's wrong with that? Why is it a big deal? The next bloke who offers you
£3200 could also be a dealer - you won't know.

Like the title to the post says "slightly annoying" so it's
But why? What difference would it make?

For sure, but the current RSVR is the replacement for the old RSV,
right? and the RSV Factory replaces the ols RSVR, I think. Italian
    logic for you.

At least the dials on this don't look like they've come from a Montego.

    at least you're consistent.

I can't really understand it myself, buying two the same one after
another. Or is it just that you liked it, but didn't want an italian
    bike out of warranty?

The italian bike out of warranty thing weighed heavily, particularly after
    the electrical shenanigans.

Much as I liked the GSXR750, it was a bit weedy low-down. Much as Kiran's
thou was a blinding bike, the RSV's way cooler. And anyway, porl's got one
    :)

This is all pending a test ride, for what that's going to be worth in South
London, but the 04 Mille's pretty much a different bike from the ground up
    (new engine, frame, fairing ...)

The seat's a lot lower too, so you having a go on it might not require a
    stepladder

good reason not to have one. Clearly, Gixer thous are for know-nothing
    poseurs.
make sure you pull a decent minger whilst getting your knee down on the
    Chiswick Roundabout.
cool. I'm still toying with the idea of buying an unreliable Italian
    v-twin myself.

    Bear says...
    That's my take on it.

When I buy bikes privately I always, without exception, play cheeky and
offer just below trade prices. The seller has the choice not to sell,
it's not like someone's holding a gun to their head.
