Slightly annoying

My Gixer was on Ebay, but didn't sell...anyway, I had a few emails from
people wanting to know if I'd be open to offers so emailed them back.

One came back offering 3.15K, I went back saying I was looking for 3.3K
minimum (Glasses price for a private sale is about 3.4K). Further
email arrives saying that was more than he could offer "as he is a
dealer".

Cheeky git.

Mine was sold in a dealer for £3,800 - However they had to take a crappy
Firestorm as a trade-in.

Not sure I understand why you are slightly annoyed. Are you suggesting he
isn't really a dealer?

 

That's kind of what annoyed me - he's buying on the open market, he
pays open market prices.

No I think he's suggesting that he doesn't give a **** what the potential
buyer does for a profession, the price he wants is £3.3k, end of.

I can't see why anyone should expect to get something any cheaper than the
clearly stated bottom line, just because they're 'a dealer'.

But he wasn't underhand - he told you he was a dealer. I really don't
see why it makes any difference.

I'm sure dealers go thru the ads in MCN every week and ring the likely
cases - why not?

 

Wouldn't it have been cheekier to pose as an ordinary punter, haggle you
right down and then mark it up in his shop?

 

If you know anyone that is likely to trade a Gixer against a Norton
Commando, I'd be grateful for any leads.....
