That's what I'd always though, but I rang a few last time round, and
specifically H&R, who said the website price was the best they could
do. I went with H&R because they were still the cheapest.
Not yet because they've never even come close to what I've been able
to get it for before. Maybe now I'm old and a responsible with good
    NCB they make think differently.

    Unlikely.

  2. Worth a look at Bennets if you haven't already - they are charging me
less than half what Auntie Carole wanted this year (108 -v- 224 - both
    FC on the Pan Euro).

  4. In previous years they've been way out for me but as Nick says, they
were cheapest this time by about a hundred quid. I nearly didnt bother
phoning them but I'm glad I did. Needless to say I had to phone to
make a change to the documentation after it arrived but it didnt make
    a difference to the price.

Yeah, they're on my usual list. I did have my FZR insured with them
for a year way back when. Then they went expensive on me as soon as I
had a crash and some points.

Down to 3 points now and the accident was more than 5 years ago.

See, there you go again with the total utter fucking bollox crap. It is
all the fucking same with you Fat Bastards Club Members innit eh? All
you can talk about in terms of motorbike performance is open roads and
the twisties at some god forsaken hour in the morning. It is a bit
fucking different in Urbania I can tell you. I my world a well rid 600
would piss all over a litrebike and a CG125 would prolly see off the
    pair of them.

Well in my experience I find the thou a noticeable pain in the arse riding
around town compared to my zx6. Yes, the comfort/position is a factor but
the also if I run over something when not concentrating that causes my
throttle hand to jerk a bit, at around 30 or so, it can be potentially quite
eventful. And that's all I'm prepared to say on the subject :)

If I had another bike to commute on, I would.

Yeah but a 600 would groan under your weight anyway :p

Seriously, is there some reason you can't get some sort of bike out
    there?

There must be summat - and you should be able to afford it, no
    problem.

The standard of driving is *terrible*. The 'rabs just don't look
where they're going. They don't look in their mirrors. They value
human life not one iota, because if Allah says it's time to go, it's
time to go. Which means that if some dozy blind Arab gassing on his
cellphone cuts across four lanes of traffic, and someone gets killed -
it's down to Allah, not the crap driving.

Ho yuss. The "Insh'Allah" School of Driving.

It's much the same in India. People will quite happily drive on the
wrong side of the road, with main beam on, and hooting like a bastard
to get on-coming traffic out of the way.

And the odd thing is, no-one ever gets upset by it (except - briefly -
    those who get killed, presumably).

I keep telling 'em, but they won't listen. The best gear for the
gixxer, in town, at 30mph, is 6th. Still plenty of pull but completely
    softend the throttle responce.
And therein lies a tale, I guess.
You're just doing it wrong, is all.

I don't know when the last time you rode around London was but a "completely
softend the throttle responce" would be a recipe for disaster imo. Can't be
    fantastic for the clutch either.

Explain yourself further or suffer continued bouts of derision.

What part of "still plenty of pull" did you fail to understand?
Sorry, what's the clutch got to do with this?
Continued? If that's the best you can do on the derision front, then
    bring it on.

I'm not comfortable with the idea of diving for filtering lines, pulling out
of danger from sideswiping road users or jumping ahead of a phalanx of
scooters and dispatch riders in 6th gear matey and I don't fancy working
perpetually my way up and down the gears on a 12 mile commute.

Well no, but you were talking about 30mph. Sure, if you're stopping
and starting, weaving and diving, it's clear that 6th wouldn't be
appropriate, but it'll pull away quite happily without clutch abuse in
third, which should be sufficiently 'damped' to avoid the snatchiness
    you infer.

hehe...of course you know that by even _comparing_ me with you you're making
yourself look bad. The fact that I'm the only one you can say that to is
    agonising in its pathos.
