that'll be why I kept having to slow down on the straights so you
    could catch up, then.

    Yes, yes. alright then.

"Especially on sunny days after trying to avoid ramming those in front of
me as they heaved on their brakes on entering a corner only for them to
accelerate away after making me lose all my fucking momentum through said
    corner through Hertfordshire".

yes, yes, yes already - I know that I overbrake for corners
(especially right-handers) and that I could be carrying more corner
speed. To do that properly on the 'blade means moving about more on
    the bike - I'm lazy.

Hopefully a couple of trackdays and some more actually riding the bike
    will help.

    not *just* me, I think.

I'm aware of the problem, and am actively trying to sort it out.

    I have three main problems...

    Poor positioning going into bends
    Shitting myself while in bends
Completely cocking up series of bends (see problems 1+2)
I'm all too aware of mine, it's the sorting out that's posing me
    a challenge.

I don't think my positioning is bad, and I love going as fast as
possible actually in a bend. My problem is lack of confidence when
entering the bend, particularly on right-handers.
well, I'm really hoping a few trackdays and plenty of practice on the
road well help in my case.

Anyway, I still don't know why the Guzzi wouldn't start, although I have
    my theories.

I have Fear Of The Unknown - I'm fine if I can see my way out of a
bend, but if I can't see what's coming I tend to get a bit edgy and
lo and behold, out comes the teddy.
A clear view, or following someone else, keeps me happy (cos if
they've not just dropped over sideways or collided with a tractor,
odds are I'll be OK too).

Series of bends cause me a problem cos I usually come out of one
bend and don't get myself set up for the next one, which has be
all over the shop by the end.

Ahh, I think we all do that just to greater or lesser degrees. Anyone who
says they don't suffer from it at all...well...
Again, that's quite common, IME. In fact, personally, I /hate/ leading
'cause it often gets a little too competitive for my liking and that's
when it all tends to go a tad pear-shaped.

For exactly the same reason, that's why *I* like being tail-end
    Charlie.

Today's run to Calais took the Wing to the upper limits of its
performance envelope, so to speak, yet I doubt Tim or Paul were even
    trying.
