    That's all it took.

    "Hello Carole Nash Breakdown service?"

One fried reg/rect, cooked battery and slightly overdone wiring loom
connector. Oh well, I guess it had to happen on account of it being a
    known weakness of this bike.

At least it's sorted now although I could've done without the 250 quid
    hit on my wallet.

Heh. It is just about the only known weakness of the 750s.

Happened to my brother's - he's now got some sort of CPU fan rigged up
    to keep it cool.

well I seem to remember you can already tick off the 'fried reg/rect',
not sure about the other 2 though....

Yebbut, what about the unknown weaknesses?
That seems to be the suggested 'fix'.

I have an 80mm computer case fan on my XJ600's. Works a treat.

    SteveH says...
Extend the loom and hang it out under the bottom yoke in the breeze. I
did this with my GSX750EFE one, because they had a known reg/rec frying
problem as well. I sold the bime to a mate, he returned the reg/rec to
it's original position and it caught fire within two weeks.

  14. The only time any of my bikes has had to be recovered was when I
realised (while riding in Scotland) that my rear tyre was shedding
chunks of rubber and I could see the bit underneath the tread..

    I think I must be the anti-Timo.

  17. It certainly removed any desire I might of had to ride it 500 miles
back home. This was my ZX-10 (the original one) that had been breathed
    on to increase power.
Straight-line it was awesome - it just wouldn't corner very well. And
    it ate tyres.

I'd rather be known for something else but these days you've got to
    take what's on offer.
    Clockwise or counter-clockwise?
