    Really?

In the past 9 months I've carried my helmet as hand luggage onto tplanes
with no trouble at all. Both were Easyjet flights, one to Nice and back
at christmas, and then to Newcastle when I picked up my bike from Colin
    Irvine.

I use one of those lovely, well padded Arai race helmet bags. Check-in
staff didn't bat an eyelid, but then again I don't have a Norn Irish
    accent and I look respectable.

I think by now in this thread that it's been firmly established that
airport security just don't like me.

  5. That's what I mean by alternative ways of life ;-)

  6. But a bit unrealistic in this day and age. What is the average lifespan
nowadays? What was the average only 100 years ago? In the good old
days women would very often die in childbirth, men at work or at war,
and everybody was open to cholera, measles, smallpox, polio and any
number of other really nasty diseases that have been tamed today. In
those days we just didn't live long enough to fall out of love, but
    today we can.

  7. It can be hard to work up the enthusiasm when you're really cut up. And
it plays hell with your chatup line. Although I've been *single* for 18
years, we were separated for 3 before we divorced, so it took me 5 years
    to get a life again.

Well, how close are you to Stansted? In addition that could be handy on
my return, as it will be latish anway, not including PikeyAir delays.

English seems to be a foreign language to one of us, and I don't think
    it's me.

  11. You should be. They're easier to get than to get rid of!

Ahhh! You poor delicate little flower.

But that's not important right now. Yesterday, I *very* nearly
bought a ZX10r (in black). Instead however, I bought a Ford Focus
diesel estate car. Arse! I must be growing old.

Took me about two years last time. Had a few also-rans in between,
like, but it's not until you find your next life partner that the last
    one really starts to recede.

Is that a *whoosh*, or am I reading a double entendre into Champ's
comment when it wasn't meant as one?
"next life partner". How does that work, then?

Could be either. I certainly hadn't noticed it.
    One day, perhaps, you'll understand.
