In the past 9 months I've carried my helmet as hand luggage onto tplanes with no trouble at all. Both were Easyjet flights, one to Nice and back at christmas, and then to Newcastle when I picked up my bike from Colin Irvine. I use one of those lovely, well padded Arai race helmet bags. Check-in staff didn't bat an eyelid, but then again I don't have a Norn Irish accent and I look respectable.
