Yup. But trumping you isn't really a sport though is it?

Well, quite. But I think the two terms "single" and "permanent
relationship" each imply things which are mutually exclusive.

I'd offer that 'permanent relationship' is a paradox to begin with.

    Porl says...
"Till death do us part" is pretty much a good definition of permanent.

Maybe, but the high proportion of couples for who "until I change my mind"
would be more pertinent show how tenuous that is.

  6. true but in some cases you wished they were dead so surely that counts
    too.

Will do, btw. where is best to leave the bike at Stanstead for
a few days? I'm using Pikeyair on Thursday to fly to the Fatherland
and will return on Tuesday night.

Long Term car park - "Pink Elephant Parking". There's an area (I think
it's zone A) just behind the security building where you can park your
bike for free[1] which is covered by the security cameras.

Basically, as soon as you go through the gates, on your left you'll
see an area that is marked as closed, but you can still get a /bike/
past the cones, and you'll see an area with lots of other bikes
    parked.

[1] I don't know if this is actually official policy, but since
there's space to ride a bike beside (rather than through) the security
    barriers, the point is moot.

no worries - one other thing to note - they're double-plus unkeen
about letting you take a bike helmet on as hand-luggage - I managed to
convince them it was OK, but only after a /lot/ of discussion - if you
don't need it at the other end of your journey, it'd be simpler to
stick it (and maybe the rest of your biking kit) in a locker - this is
what I'll do next time I go to Stansted on the bike.

I never had a problem on the ocasions I took a helmet on board, but
it's been a while now. I used to leave it locked in the Trumpet's
panniers most weekends when flying back to the UK, which was really
nice when it had got wet on the way there and I'd just pushed the
    gloves inside...

    Wot he said.

A reasonable amount of meaningless sex usually helps in these
    situations, ime.

it may be coincidental, but I only had a problem post-9/11 -
previously the helmet only attracted an inappropriate comment from the
    security guy at the gate[1]

[1] he called me "biker scum".

Are there lockers available at the airport then? I would have thought
the abolished all of those for fear of bombs.

you know, I've no idea. You'd need to phone them and ask. Of course,
you can still definitely check your kit in as hold luggage, but that's
    always a faff.
