Since this time last year, actually. I bought a supermoto during last
year's umming and aahing, but I really am going to sell the Aprilia this time
round. It's out of warranty, and Italian, so Only Bad Things can happen from
    now on

I'll probably sell privately, so I'll wait until we're into March and the
buyers are starting to creep out of the woodwork. Then it's probably going
    to be something with 750CC

You can still buy them new, for about 4 and a half grand, pre-registered.
Which leads me to suspect that they're actually a bit shit

Or perhaps that it's still a very good bike, but a bit dated now. As I said
up there somewhere, I wasn't that impressed with the GSXR750, and I imagine
you'd find it a bit revvy after coming from the Mille.

    That's a good thing, then.
    Hmm, suspect you're right.

Plus, it'll stand up on its own without the need for a sidestand.

    Re: GSXR1000K4
Does people honestly think this is the case? I know all the journos
keep going on about the 10R being a beast and the R1, Fireblade and
GSXR1000 being lardy tourers in comparison but I'm not sure I believe
    it.

For some godlike rider, maybe. But for us mere mortals? I doubt we
could find the differences, after all the manufacturers are designing
these bikes to compete against each other. There ain't going to be
    much in it.

I reckon Kiran could take any of the big 4 bikes and have exactly what
    he wants. As someone who's gone from a GSXR750 to a 1000 I'd
certainly suggest that if he found the 750 a bit gutless below max
revs then the Thou is perfect. Same bike, more grunt.

On the one hand I did spend a couple of test riding hours on the R1 and ZX10
(and had spent a year on a Fireblade) and on the other I am a noobie
know-nothing. It may well have been influence from the media but I did
honestly feel the Kwak was a little more extreme than the others. Compared
to the R1, and the Gixxer I ended up with, there seemed to be a point at
which everything went "Argh! Shit!". having said that I also didn't like the
feel of the thing and that's purely an ergonomic factor for someone with my
    build.

So basically if I had to put money on it I would say that it isn't a myth
and there is a degree of extreme power delivery there but if I somehow found
out it was I wouldn't be surprised. Also, what a power commander would do to
it I have no idea. I really wanted to want the ZX as well to go with my
    leathers. But I didn't, enough.

Err, well the 6R was dreadfull on long m-way trips, which gets annyoing when
you want a bike to do foreign touring on. It doesn;t actually need to be
*that* cold. As long as its wet/damp and 10'C or below, it would ice up
after about 25 miles. I recall a French run back from Champagne - it was
raining most of the way back, and I had to stop 4/5 times for 5 mins apiece
at the side of the road to let the carbs melt.

For daily transport, I'd imagine it would be fine in fact. Carbs don't get
cold enough to ice up as the engine heat keeps them warm. It's only long
motorway stints that were a problem. Oh, and the St Bernard's pass on the
top tunnel bit, but admittiedly, it was bloody cold up there.

    You could well be right.

Anyone know what the differences between the K3 and K4 were, apart from
colours. I know there was a change between K2 and K3.
