  3. There's a lot of Swiss down south, and even more Boxheads, some of them
    third or even fourth generation.
Unless we get outbid, and barring problems, yes. The aforementioned edge
    of the vineyard.

Initial enquiries reveal power, water etc within 500 metres. Public road
access. And a situation to die for.

    Fingers crossed.

All related to a Dr Mengele?

I had a look round inside there on one of the Open Doors days. It's
criminal what the council did when they painted over the interior.

    Wicked staircase though.

Go on then, it's not like I've got over 1000 unread and lots of work
    to do.

What would you classify as 'social engineering'?

    Why is it pointless?

The hotel isn't finished yet, I rang the firm doing it just before
xmas to see about booking for Feb but they still don't have a final
    completion date.

Heh you know we will never agree on half of it.

I'd settle on "projects that the govmint has funds to pay for which will not
    incur long term debt"

    But as a for example:

Poll Tax - that cost a fucking fortune
Miner's Strike - that cost a fucking fortune
Unlimited healthcare for all UK residents - that costs a fucking fortune

All out war in the Falklands rather than nuking the invasion fleet 500 miles
of the Argie coast - that cost a fucking fortune

Oh no we better stop here.....

    No chance.

How about capping wages paid to people working on projects funded by
    the tax payer?

How about self governing meaning no more votes in English elections
for anyone who wants to vote in other parts of the UK?

How about putting the same entry requirements on people coming from
parts of the UK with their own assemblies as we put on a Somalian
    refugee?

In 10 months time I'll be able to tell you one reason why that's a
    really really bad idea.

I'm entirely in agreement. For public funded jobs too.
I'm entirely in agreement. I said here recently that Scottish independence
would be the best thing that ever happened......to England
You realise that means "walk right in and help yourself"

I didn't say I'd try to. Just give you an example of a publically
funded project where paying a high rate for the best people is going
to ensure it isn't fucked up like last time.

It's the last time and the half a dozen before it that worry me. I'll
be more than happy if projects funded out of our pockets start to work
first time but it's a rarity that they do.

Don't forget that I spend a lot of my time working on projects that
are funded by the tax payer and are so far over budget that the people
responsible for them should be shot. It pisses me off big style when I
watch some of the lazy bastards working on those projects getting paid
to work 8 hours a day and actually putting in less than half that then
whinging about how they're getting slaughtered by the taxman.

One of the reforms you can vote for here

    http://www.power2010.org.uk/votes

is to forbid Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish MPs from voting on
    matters that affect only England.

It doesn't really sound as though enforcing some kind of cap is going to
    help improve that situation.

I'm sure you can see how complicated the arguments would get about what is
and is not affecting other parts of the UK.
I suppose a proper federalized system could be constructed. But the SNP want
to go off on their own and **** up what's left of Scotland, which isn't much
South of Stirling. Give it to them. But the oil revenues should still be
split between all the UK regions, by head count.
