  1. Heh, specialist subject I guess... even though they have two companies I
*think* that there is through ticketing between them and the Oyster like
'Pasmo' system lets you use either company's lines?

Sooo subjective it's meaningless. But France _is_ a pretty good place
to live. Perhaps you'd care to share your reasoning that make Germany
    so much better?

    As you say, it's subjective.

Maybe it's because I know more Germans than I do French people.

  4. I'd say that ranking Europe Italy and Austria tie for first place,
France comes third, Germany fourth and Switzerland a very poor fifth.
In fact, I'd say Austria probably had the edge over Italy if I was
    pushed.

Given a choice of anywhere in Europe, I'd probably move to Portugal.
Somewhere not too far from the Algarve coast, but away from all the
    tourists and ex-pats.

    On this, I agree.

I remember the conversation at dinner in the Hotel Enzian, after you spent
a day in the company of the owner, Klaus. You said, "this bloke spends his
summer riding those roads on a K1300 and in the winter he skis. The
    bastard."

Those roads, remember, were mostly in Germany.

Seconded. Having said that, if I won the lottery and could live
anywhere in the world it would be roughly where I am now.

With the exception of signalling on the District line, which still fails
every time the temperature drops below that of a mild summer's day.

Well, we know what that's based on, don't we? Me, I'm almost
concluding that I prefer Switzerland to France, given that we live in
both. Of course, sitting in bed in a ski resort musing about what time
to get up and go skiing might be affecting my reasoning right now ;-)

Sorry, but this sort of comment just makes me unsure whether to laugh
    or puke up.

How many ex-pats have to live somewhere before it becomes an ex-pat
area? I can just imagine the locals whinging in their bar about it
being the beginning of the end and how once you let one settle more
always follow until the area becomes a ghetto.

You do come across as a twat sometimes Steve. I know more Spanish people than
French. Does that make Spain a better place to live? FFS.

    issue on the sample size...

Surprise surprise, as I type, "Suspended between Ealing Common and

    It really is quite abysmal.
