The varlet known as Adrienne M Jenn did proclaim to all assembled:

    You have a wobbly seat?
    This I must see! ;-)

  2. Just seen Molly's pictures from the weekend: that new bike of yours
looks bloody gorgeous. Glad to see it doesn't have a hom colour scheme
    like Blaney's ;o)

How long are your legs, btw? (Not that I am jealous, or anything. Me?
never. suffer from leg-length envy or envy of
    them-what-can-ride-bigger-bikes-regardless? of course not! much.)

  4. Get in there! You're going to have such a fun summer on that :)

Junctions, particularly sloping ones seemed to be your only nemisis.
Looked like one and a half, sort of bouncing from one to the other, to me :)
Don't stop until you get home? hmm could be tricky.
I would suggest possibly breaking all the "rules" and putting one set of
toes down firmly, and making that the right foot side. Not sure whether
perhaps sliding slightly off the seat to enable this would be good or
bad, but try and see what works best for you.

    Have fun tho :)

  5. Like your old poo-coloured bike. Who did you manage to flog that to?
Or did you pay them to atke it away? ;o)

Heh, not really, on more charitable days, I refer to it as a 'ginger'
    bike.

    Oh, that.
My mate Mark had it off me. He just wants some NCD so he can get a
    Gixer Thou.
I did give it to him for a song.
    It's clearly brown.

Marvellous, have lots of fun on it. Are you going to do the DC w/ again
but this time on the 600?

How much did you manage to get it lowered by? 1 or 2 inches?

    It was based around how much Hagon could safely shorten the rear shock by;
they could have taken about 25mm out of it which would equate to about
55mm when fitted to the bike.

However, the safer route was to shorten it by about 10mm which equates to
35mm or about an inch and a half reduction in static height at the rear.
The forks were then dropped through the yokes by an additional 10mm.

Whilst doing this, we all learned what a royal PITA removing the rear
bodywork is on this bike plus Mr.Honda had a brain-fart when designing it
as one has to raise the fuel tank (for which there is no prop or
work-around) to get at the top linkage bolt.

Hmm, thanks. This may widen my search for another bike should I be able
    to afford one this year.

I could do it if I sold the 400 first, but I'm a bit worried about not
finding what I want when I want it, IYSWIM, and being bikeless.
Did you have to make any alterations to the side-stand? When I borrowed
Vicky's Bandit the forks were lowered, but this meant that the bike
'stood up' a lot more when on the sidestand, making it difficult to get
onto the (laden) bike in some situations.
Heh, You want to try working on a ZXR4, then you'll learn real cursing
    ;o)

Oh aye; lopped off the "foot" and about a 1/2" of stand and then welded a
new "foot" on the end. Needs a spot of black Smoothrite to finish, really.

I think my inside leg is about 28 inches. Sadly I don't long legs for
my height - just pretty much in proportion with my overall shortness!

Not sure yet. I don't think it would be worth it until I'm a bit more
    confident on it.

Molly spent a day with me last weekend which I very much appreciated and
has helped enormously. I just need to keep practicing.

Heh, there's a difference in our thinking ;o) I would like to do the DC
w/e on a bigger bike due to the extra engine braking that just isn't
there on the 400. Have you noticed any difference in engine braking
between your 400 and the 600?
Aye, practice makes a better more skilled rider, hopefully.

Enter stage right, Mr. Credit Card!;-)
Actually, I had a nice talk with my credit card company and managed to
negotiate a rather favourable rate, better than any loan or HP
    agreement.

That said, I wasn't confident enough to test ride the bike so had to
just go with my gut feeling that it was the right one for me.

I think it just came down to determination in the end and knowing that I
had a long road trip in the summer to contend with so needed to get
    something soon.

You may find the following link interesting. I've not spoken with them
but they are approved by Honda.

    http://www.fiinternational.com

Having the shorter shock has reduced the ground clearance somewhat but
in my opinion that is a small price to pay for the pleasure of riding
    the bike.

Other than that, it's pretty much as Wik has said really.

    Good luck!

And me, a 4. If Suze has the same shoe size as I do, it's enough to
    make a difference between bikes.

And the sooner I sling this keyboard with it's missing 'e's the f*cking
    better.

I think the pair of you need to be looking at Daytona LadyStar GTX[1]
boots. They give you an extra 1 1/2 inches in height with a clever built
up insole that you don't notice. 215 of your earth quids IIRC, there's a
link to GLF Accessories in my .sig.

[1] Virtually identical to the RoadStar GTXs that many ukrmers and
    police officers wear.
