So your review is based on some piece of shit trail bike you picked up
cheap on eBay, with no knowledge of the TGB brand, or scooters in
general, except what you've read on the internet - surely not even you
are that stupid? You're willingness to berate anything produced in a
general area shows a huge amount of ignorance about the development of
industry in that region and the politics surrounding it. You might as
well just slate everything made outside of Europe. Even Steve Linsdell
of Flitwick Motorcycles reckons the Korean manufacturers make some very
well engineered bikes for the money. Taiwan is not mainland China, and
the two are very different in both industry and culture.

I'm leaving this company in four days with no intention of returning to
motorcycle retail so I have no personal financial interest. We sell TGB
where I work now and I'm not on commission anyway, so selling a TGB or
selling a Kawasaki makes no odds to me, I'm not bothered what the brand
is. The guy selling TGB in Lambeth has sold literally hundreds of the
things and reported no major problems with them. Reviews I've found
easily oin the net back up my own views and those of other bike
retailers nationwide - namely, TGB are the best of the budget scooters
by a long way. I'd go so far as to say they are on a par with the
Japanese badged scooters in most respects because a fair few of those
    are made in mainland China.

When I call TGB for spares I find them helpful and knowledgeable about
their product and everything is in stock, plus the spares prices are
bloody good. When we do need spares it's usually service items or parts
to repair crash damage, it's rare we have a need for spares to fix a
    broken down one.

    Btw, the engines are Morinis.

Think back to the days when you were a skint teenager. They want a cheap
and reasonably tidy 50cc machine that will last them for the compulsory
12 months at 50cc. During that 12 months they will fall off a few times
and if they manage not to completely bin it they will flog it on to
the next skint teenager. It will be ridden flat out whenever it is moving,
it will be neglected and patched up. Within 2 or 3 years it will be a
wreck and reduced to being ridden around a field by 14 year olds.

Why would they want to pay twice as much for a non-chinese bike when
the end result will be the same ?

Anyroad, it is gone and Gumtree looks like the best way of shifting
cheap bikes. One free advert with a picture and it sold within 24
hours with 4 other callers waiting to see if the first one did not buy.

    RESULT.

Nothing to do with the fact those bought for commercial use would have
almost certainly have been used a metric ton more, (with most of it
'stop start' within a small urban area), than those bought for private
    use, then...

Because if they look after it' they'll get a signifcant proportion of
their money back when they sell it. You buy Chinese and you're just
writing off everything you've forked out, plus a shitload of bills
throughout the year when the 'dealer' who sold it to you won't honour
any warranty claims, or in the case of a local internet dealer, just
tells you to **** off if you call him with a problem.

There is no justification for buying Chinese, and I regard anyone who
does buy one as an idiot who needs re-educating.

That doesn't help either, but as an ex-Dominos delivery rider I can
tell you that you can destroy the most reliable and hardy of small
motorcycles - the venerable Honda C90 Cub - in a matter of hours if you
give it to a crowd of 17 year olds who use it for pizza delivery.

Franco Morinis. TGB also make 90% of the variators and pulley systems
for Japanese scooter manufacturers as OE.

Honda being Honda have some sort of quality control in their Chinese
factories, but they aren't as good as the Japanese built Hondas. This
week we've had two Chinese built Honda Lead 110s in for tyres, even
though they're still running ok, both are falling apart and we couldn't
read the VIN on one because the frame had rusted so much; it is a 58
    plate bike.

Selling shit Chinese built scooters to teenagers with little money is
tantamount to theft - I won't do it. Even I have morals

    "Over the side with it!"

My first ever powered two-wheeler was a Lammie SX200. Pure evil, that thing
was. Had never ridden anything before, and I had to ride it 10 miles home
from the seller, through Brighton, behind my dad in his car. I'm not sure
which of the two of us was more shaken up when we got home.

Heavens, no. I only had it for a year. I swapped it in 1974 for an
ex-police Ariel Leader, which looked pig-ugly but handled very nicely
(considering it was shod with Avon Skidmasters) and started reliably. I did
tart the Lammie up first, though, with a bizarre, conflicting range of
embellishments: a seat with a tall backrest, Alice Cooper eyes on the front,
red flames on the front mudguard, and the classic "Yes" band logo on the side
panels. Oh, and I wore a parka on it. Gimme a break, I was only 18... ;-)
