    It's shiny, loud and Italian...

Went up to the Frozen North - that actually had nicer weather than the
South, it must be said - with TOG and SWMBO tagging along, TOG having
donated the use of his trailer to fetch the bike and coming along to,
well, presumably do the point and laugh thing :).

So, here's the latest addition to Timo's stable of Ever Shiter Bikes:

    http://www.unixconsult.co.uk/bike/ducati-900ssd.html

And just for tallbloke, I've left the (presumably well screwed
together) Commando in the frame that the bloke bought instead.

Surprisingly enough I've actually managed to cram all bikes into the
garage and it's now sitting there being optimated.

    Roll on Chimay!

  6. It is absolutely gorgeous. Original, unrestored, and in fabulous
    condition.

The seller is an unreconstructed hooligan - racing numbers hanging on
his garage walls, faded pix of him racing propped in corners of the
garage, a TVR stuffed in one fcorner of the garage, along with a
crunched Astra GTE (!!?) and another Commando.

Had his first bike in 1957 and been riding ever since. What a star.

    The clock is ticking ....

How long before the curse of Timo gets to the Ducati? Will it ever
    travel further than 53 feet?

    Place your bets.

  11. Well, it has to get to Chimay, but I must confess that I thought the
combination of Timo and a Ducati is a kind of Breakdown Critical Mass.

I very nearly bought one (black and gold), on my budget it was going to
be tired, but got the Guzzi instead.

It was the thought of a gearbox/engine rebuild - not that it needed one -
described as "think of a big number, double it, open cheque book".

    Somedays I regret it...
