If you say so, then I accept your good taste in bike colour schemes.

  2. We all have our favourite spin. What he's not telling you is that his
demented colour scheme was the exact opposite of a chick-magnet. It
wasn't cool in 1965, or 75, or 85; in fact, it won't be cool in 2015 or
    2025 either.

And I still think you want to ditch the spottie and fit an M2 instead.

Ah we have a non-owner in our midst... just love these expert opinions
    based on hearsay... ;)
C'mon now, we are all interested in any opinions whatever the basis...

Whenever I see army riders on army bikes, I wonder if the driver would
get away with saying he didn't see them...

    Helen gets 9 - 9.5 l/100kms from hers. 13 when towing a 5.1 metre van.

The local RAAF base, Pearce, has two ambulances painted in camo. Except, of
course, for the bright red crosses painted on the sides and the roof.

    I don't get it.

Ah yes, spoken like a true Toyota owner.
I hear the standard in denial rhetoric each time I cream all of the
"Land" ajectived types in the soaked black soil and the rocks. Then I
hear it again after beating them all home along the highway.
Can't say I blame them though. Mine cost 35000 new and fully optioned.
Theirs cost 70000+ plus on roads and options. You would be in denial
too if you suddenly had your purchasing decision rubbed in your face
by some upstart Jeep owner :)

  14. Head out to the outback where reliability is the number one concern and you
only see Landcruisers and Patrols. I wonder why?

To the extent that what you say is true (it isn't) can you spell
advertising and gullibility? Reality? we don't need any stinking
    reality!

  16. Jeep advertises just as much. Funnily enough everyone I know who has owned a
jeep except one person has told me what a lemon they are. My own experience
with 2 x Landcruisers and a Patrol are they are reliable as the day is long.
    YMMV

We took a 16 ft van down to Busselton and 13 l/100kms sitting on 100km/h. A
mate of mine has an 18ft van he tows behind his Patrol. If he stays under 90
    km/h he manages 26, yes 26, l/100kms.

That says it all for me.

But I like the V8 turbo Landcruiser utes FESA supplies to the Fire Vollies.
Jeep doesn't do utes because they don't have a chassis.

AOL. The '97 has more than 400K on the clock. Despite maintenance
related to hard usage (new bushes all round, new shocks etc), it has
been one of my less costly vehicles all up. It drives as well as new.
Yes I have owned and put 500k+ on cruisers, Rolluxes and Patrols. I
speak from an owner's POV, not a brainwashed sycophant.
The only problems I have ever had with the Jeep have been related to
crooks and spivs who masquerade as Chrysler agents. There are some
good ones, but the bad ones are very bad.
I like the diesel turbo Patrols, but as with the Cruiser, problems are
costly. I have owned a few, and have the bank balance as a result on
record. I have also owned Cruisers - nice, but uncheap to own, and no
more or less reliable than the Cherokee has been over a long time.
The lack of chassis has caused absolutely no issues other than obvious
advantages (low silhouette combined with high ground clearance).
Anyway ymmv, and of course you can parrot car company advertising as
proof of your theories as much as you like in this free forum (not
Theo, Frazer), but do not expect those who are in a position to know
    better to agree with you.

Back OT - looks as if I will be getting a Ranger in British Racing
Green. not camo. Looking forward to a fortnight or so when I get to
    see it.

yah... tell that to the guy at work with the Patrol who's on his 3rd 3.0
    litre turbo diesel motor.

And he's FAR from alone! [1]
