went to leeds from manc today, had to be there for nine so thought I'd take
the bike. Had a great time with the standing traffic, then two laps round
leeds inner loop, before giving up on it and pushing the bike across a
pedestrian square to get to the hotel :)

Anyway, started thinking about wind after a bit of the hotel blew off (only
a little bit) and it started raining as I set off. Being a fair weather
biker, I got the shock of my life.

Into the sun, on a wet road with side winds. Got blown about a foot and a
half and felt like I was leaning into the wind, so pussied out, came off at
brighouse and went down the A58 and rejoined after the moor.

I really didn't fancy the tops, and that big viaduct. Am I just shit? Will I
get better? Does having an 18 foot high tenere help, even a little bit?

That's 1/2 the transport empire ruled out - my hovercraft is crap in side
    winds as well.

    That's always fun, isn't it?
    Heh... which hotel?
OK, now I really want to know: which hotel? Not the one I'm in, I hope.
    Just inexperienced.
    Not at all.

Going faster usually helps, as does making sure you're not holding on
    too tightly.
I bet the 'Mog doesn't notice them at all - but I guess it's not really
    practical for commuting...

    round leeds inner loop,
I used to bloody live there - and it still wasn't any easier.
    Park Plaza
I also got advised that gripping the tank wi t'thighs helped relax the grip.
The mog's in many pieces, and there will be more before there's less. It is
a beautiful thing and so very well made it is a joy to work on, like a huge
    great lego set.

    cheers,

I can see why they've done it, but it's a right royal PITA at times.
Ah, one of the cheap ones.
    Yeah, just practice.
    Yes, that too.
    Hmmm... want, want, want!

You should try riding with an A3 box in a side wind(scary)
