Oddly enough, I don't look at fr.rec.moto, neither have I looked on
google to see if you are posting there. I was working from memory,
recalling what must have been a past experience that you had with that
    group.
I did qualify it. I would normally seek it out, as most people don't
morph identities every few weeks, neither do they X-no-archive their
posts. I really don't see why I should put the effort in. I recall
it and that is enough for me.
I just wonder what size your bike is, you see - just to confirm that
it is a real one, not a small model-type bike. I suspect that you are
generally truthful but your claims to possess an R1 seem a little
hollow - so if you do indeed own one I expect to find that it is 1/8th
    scale ...
    On your R1?
    I'm sure you'll be back.

does *anyone* want to admit to being Des' friend?

Note to Des - I'm not asking *you* to say who your friends are - I'm
wondering if anyone will admit to it in public.

Bit of a silly question innit? Of course no one will admit to it.

They may well write emails to Des although how you could establish this
as fact is neither here nor there but I don't recall anyone standing up
for him and calling the rest of us a bunch of cunts.

I dare say history is simply in the process of repeating itself.

I'm Des' friend, I'm also The Pope, The Queen Mother (I faked my own
death, dontcha know?) and the script writer for AndrewR. Later on I'm
going to be the president of the United States, then for an encore I'll
    be Salad Dodger..

you could *never* be Salad Dodger.

Well, except in the "riding a fast motorcycle very slowly" department.

If Des had an R1, he'd have used it for his journey over last month. As
it is, he came by other means. Make your conclusions from that.

Surely they'd admit it by email?

It's there for a reason, in that it shouldn't
run on the sidestand due to the location of
    the oil pickups.

Is a side stand required for keeping the bike upright
whilst it's going round a corner?

Does that give you a clue about which direction is considered
"down" to fluids in bikes when they go round corners?

My understanding of it was running on the sidestand (which has the bike
leaning) means it doesnt' pick up oil correctly.

Leaning the bike going round a corner would be doing the same thing - though
of course there would be a lot of other forces at play,
which may totally negate the leaning over bit.

One of us is bright, the other not ;-)

  19. To be fair, if you started the bike on it's side stand and then
instantly sat on it, I doubt there would be a problem. But leaving
it on the side stand whilst it warmed up and the owner had a fag
probably would; I'd guess that's the thing they are trying to avoid.

Nothing- the sum of the force vectors from gravity and the circular
acceleration point straight down though the centerline of the bike.

Just as when you're flying an airplane in a coordinated turn, the
turn and bank indicator ball stays centered.

If you don't believe me, tape a cup of water on the top of the tank
and go for a ride, when you're going around corners (unless your
speed is varying) the water level in the cup will be level with
the plane of the top of the tank.
