    So, which are the best?

And which ones fit a K8 GSXR1000 without modifying the fairing?

I've only tested R&G and it did the job.

Cheddar Gorge has an excellent vintage. Large with a very
yellow nipple. Welsh ones aren't bad either. Not really
the season for it though .

I had a set of R&Gs for the 7R as well, but never got round to fitting
    them.

I crashed, the bungs did nothing, the bike was demolished.

So my thumbs up for R&G only applies when they're bolted to the bike. In
the box, they're as good as useless.

This is kinda my reasoning. I think "I've been meaning to fit some
for ages" may come back to bite me at some point.

    No it didn't.

The year before I may have been able to continue on my holiday without
a detour but not last year. I'm not convinced that anything would have
stopped me snapping a clip on or smashing a rear set through the
swinging arm but the fairing would have been ok.

After the expense of laying down the 'busa, the first thing I did with
the Tigger was treat it to some R&G bungs.

Stupidly expensive for what they are, but good value for what they do.

That said, I'm likely to replace the main ones with SW Motech bars to
allow better access (as to get the panels off I've got to unbolt them
    from behind IYSWIM)

Call A&R, take their advice and buy the product from them too because he is
    a jolly decent chap

I bouyght some rather expensive Hepco and Becker crash bars for the
Versys and they were fitted as soon as they arrived. Fast forward 18
months and my bike is sitting on its side across Marsa dockyard's
entrance in Malta. The pannier lid got a little scuffed, the bar end
bolt has a tiny scrape and the hanguard was pushed out of line. The
rather expensive Hapco and Becker crashbars, that I fitted immediately
they arrived so my bike would be protected, didn't even touch the
    fucking ground.

That's lucky; when you sell the bike, they'll be worth a lot more when
you eBay them if they're undamaged

Another vote for R&G. I put them on the MV & Raptor as soon as I bought
the bikes, based purely on the results of other people's testing.

R&G appeared to protect the fairing a little bit when my ST4s bounced
off the side of white van man's van and slid along the ground a few
feet. You can see one of the bungs lying on the ground in this photo.

The R&G ones for your bike look like a piece of piss to fit too.

They do. No cutting into the fairing and straight bolt into the
    engine mount.

    I'll get some ordered.

I fail to see the point of 'em if you have to start hacking the fairing to
    bits :)
