Should I or shouldn't I?

In the finest tradition of UKRM procrastination vis-a-vis changing
vehicles, I've just been talking to a very nice man who reckons he
might be able to fit a 147bhp Daytona 955 engine to The Pink Thing.
He's going to talk to his chief mechanic on Monday & let me know if
    it's possible, & how much it'll cost.

Failing that, he can definitely fit the heads, pistons & liners from a
595 Daytona, which should result in 130bhp+ with a race can. The
Tiger's bottom end is the same as the later 955 Daytona so will take
    the increase no problem.

Either option would remove my reason for thinking of selling it in the
first place, & undoubtably be significantly cheaper than the 4.5k I'd
have to find to replace it with what I had in mind. Decisions,
    decisions...

I think a 147bhp satin black Tiger would be a rather nice tool. What
    say the FOAK?

That's settled then. Which guarantees he'll ring back monday to say it
    can't be done.
    Naturally.

The 955 I had was an early one(1999), with a claimed 128bhp. The later
ones (2001-) have the pokier engine at a claimed 147bhp. At the risk of
consulting octagenarians re: sucking eggs, I'd check exactly what
you're going to get with either route.

Either way, Sir wouldn't want a high-level carbon race can to go with
    that, would Sir?

It should be exactly that - 128 if I go with T595 pistons & cams
(Tigers have the T5 head on the later bottom end), or 147 with a
complete 955 Daytona engine. Somewhere in between should be possible by
fitting the later head from a 955 Daytona (with pistons & cams).
Sir would, but I'm pretty sure only a Tiger one will fit. Unless
    someone knows different?

And the answer is... option one. The Daytona engine's being stripped
for powder coating as they're silver & I want it black. It'll then be
reassembled with new gaskets etc, & fitted to the bike along with a
Daytona ECU, airbox & throttle bodies. They'll need to make up new oil
cooler lines & weld Daytona downpipes to the Tiger's collector box.
Should be ready in 4-6 weeks.

Time to start looking for brake upgrades, methinks.

No chance of him throwing any paint into the deal I suppose...

Indeed (assuming you mean news), although I've just spoken to him again
& he's given me another option of just bunging a 2004 Speed Triple
engine in. It'll be quicker & cheaper to do as there's less fabrication
involved, but obviously many ponies down on a Daytona lump. I'm now
Googling to see what can be done to S3s with cans, K&Ns & Tuneboys
    before making the final decision.
    I've already got paint.
