Shoshone Jeans

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Gavin Edwards, Sep 2, 2004.

  1. Does anyone know a web site selling Shoshone armoured jeans? I cannot find
    'em anywhere (except Ebay occasionally).

    Thanks

  2. Blimey, haven't heard of those for years.

    Try a google for:

    draggin jeans

    and

    hood jeans

    similar concept.

  3. Probably because they went out of business around ten years ago, IIRC.
I think production was taken over for a time before the new owners
    also went down the tubes.

Some forms of Kevlar (or other para aramid) weaves exhibit excellent
cut and abrasion resistance, but lousy tensile strength. Weaves with
excellent tensile strength fall down in the abrasion and/or cut
resistance stakes. One possible solution to this, conceived
specifically for motorcycle clothing applications, is subject of at
least two patents, which bars Hood and Draggin from adopting it.

    But you will shortly be....?
Otherwise I'm planning to order a pair of Hood H2's for loafing around town

I've got a pair of hood jeans, with HK armour in them, the company
used to make 501's IIRC, so they actually fit quite well, even with
    the aramid and the armour.

If you can get to their 'factory' in Norfolk, their seconds are a
    bargain.

(for info, the same applies to Alt-Berg in N yorks)

Kindly post at the bottom - below the text to which you are replying,
in future. Have a look at the FAQ:
    http://www.ukrm.net/faq/ukrmscbt.html Section 10.3
Again, you display your astonishing ignorance, neatly confirmed by
    your over-use of query marks.
    Look here: http://altberg.co.uk/motorcycle_boots.htm
The clue is in the url alone.

Don't say that I don't try to help.

I've got a pair of Hood jeans on at the moment, the only thing I don't
like about them is how hot I get in the office. Other than that I'm
really pleased with them, especially as they were a free gift from the
    old man.

You're wearing your Dad's jeans? How unfashionable is that?!

Not at all my dad's a well trendy geezer, shops at Mark One don't you
know. Actually the Hood jeans aren't exactly the most stylish jeans in
the world though IMHO but they aren't tooooo bad!

How much of a bargain? They're about £65 plus armour usually, iirc.

Which is about £20 cheaper than Draggin Jeans, although Draggin have
more selection of styles. I quite fancy their "Chino" style (in black,
natch) for work, save me leathering up every day.

  12. No. I am not permitted to become involved at a commercial level with
any products which I assist in the development, testing and
certification of, nor to receive any royalty or commission on sales
therof. But yes, products which are being manufactured by the
patentees or under licence will be launched in, oh, five days from
    now. :)

Might these products be for the intention of use that is pertinent to

I thought you said in another thread that your commute is less than 5
miles? You really bother leathering up for a five mile journey?

Considering the fact that most crashes happen within 5 miles of home (or
something like that), if you normally wear leathers, there's as much
justification for a 5-mile ride as for a much longer one, if you're doing it
    every day.

Trouble is, by the time you get geared-up, and changed at the other end, you
might as well have taken the car, or a pushbike. Bikes just don't make sense
    for short journeys if you're a safety-o-phile.

Yeah, but crashes also happen every xxx,000 miles.
    *ding*

For anything under 50 miles, I wouldn't even bother putting on anything
more than a jacket and gloves, and maybe not even that in Summer.

Got one of those, but the 1:10 hill I'd have to go down and then up the
