After I posted this I realised I had SORN'ed it too, so I would have to
un-SORN it as well. Bugger that for a game of soldiers. I'm just going to
    have to find a van.

Yeah, just noticed your post. But the retail customer (rather than dealer)
pdf file is still on the website, it's just not linked to anymore. Got to
be worth giving them a ring.

  7. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Dan White amazed us all with this pearl of
    wisdom:
Why not get insured and then cancel it before the cooling off period
    expires?

No such thing as un-SORNing. Just tax it - but of course you'll have
to insure it before you can tax it ...
Easiest way - or pay your buyer's train fare and get him to collect
    it.

I'm not so sure that this is the case.

My CIS car policy simply states "not owned by or under hire purchase to".

If it required the vehicle to be insured by another policy surely it
would say so? Why would it need to be separately covered?

I think this is one of those accepted truths that isn't, IYSWIM.

I've checked every policy I've had for years, & not one specified the
other vehicle had to be insured by its owner. IANACLE, but I don't see
how the InsCos can have a somewhat fundamental restriction such as this
& not include it in the contract with their customers.

You're not reading the contract, you're reading the insurance
    certificate, quite a different thing.

I think I know the difference between a contract & a certificate tyvm.
Quote from the renewed policy sat on my desk: "This Document is a
legally binding contract of insurance between..."

It doesn't say it in the policy document either.

The other vehicle clause is only in respect of the insured for the
purposes of the road traffic act so why would it be material to the
policy for the other vehicle to be insured?

Just ride it, you fag. It's not like every UKRM CIHAGM-fest isn't
riddled with uninsured, hungover morons (un-licensed, when I let
Dynamic ride both my CBR600 and my Bandit 1200).
