Short term insurance

Got a buyer lined up for the bike. I may need to deliver the bike a short
distance, but it's no longer insured. I don't want to pay for a full years
cover, then lose a third of it after a week in cancellation fees.

Any recommendations for companies offering short term cover, say a week?

    TIA.

Just hire a van, or borrow a trailer. It'll probably be cheaper.

How short is short? Can you pay for a taxi/train ticket? :)

Hmmm, fair point. Any specific vans that are good for strapping a bike in
    place?

If it's just a short distance, find a local hire company who'll be
    *loads* cheaper than that.

Or ask your friendly local bike mechanic if he'll do you a favour.

Bristol. May need to get to Bridgend, about 50 miles.

Dan White emerged from their own little world to say
I was going to suggest http://www.dayinsure.com/ as it was quite cheap.

Good job I checked the website as it seems they have withdrawn motorcycle
    cover for Joe Public.

Anyone can arrange cover for a car or van but motorcycle cover can only be
arranged by a franchised dealer for a demo or courtesy bike. Fuckers.

Last bike-sized van, an LDV, that I hired was about £30 for a day.
Getting the bike in and out is the hardest part - you need a plank and
    a hefty mate.

Get him to pay for it, give him a receipt (carbon copy for yourself,
also), and fill out the V5 with his details.

Then you can ride it under 'vehicles not owned by the policy holder'
clause of cage / other bike insurance.

There is an Aviva (Norwich Union) company that will insure you on a daily
basis (maximum 7/14 days). Perfect, I guess, for things like test rides or
    delivering bikes.

But I can't remember the name! It'll come to me later, and I think it's in
my "favourites" at home (I'm at work).

Oh no you can't, unless he's insured it already.

That clause *only* applies if the bike/car/van is insured by someone
    else as well.

I know this sounds crazy and it most definitely isn't made clear by
the policy wording but I have had this confirmed by several brokers
    and insurance companies.
