Short Hair - a lifestyle change

Having had a couple of days to reflect on the massive shock to the
system that was losing my flowing locks, I have the following
    observations to make:

    Short Hair rocks. The Upside:

Wash face - keep on going. Stop at shoulders.
It dries instantly, no more wandering around with a damp mop for an
hour, or squeezing the beard an hour later and having water actually
    run out.
Helmet ventilation actually works - and can be felt to work.
Helmet still fits, although the chinstrap had to be shortened a little
    (an inch).
No more stray hairs between eyes and visor. Big bonus.
No more hair whipping eyes in passing breeze. As above.
The winged beetle landing on the back of the neck can now be brushed
off easily in one movement, without drama or panicky combing.

Everybody wants to stroke the bristles. Tactile heaven.
I am no longer identifiable from across the street.
I am no longer identifiable from across the street as a Ginger.
Apparently I look 10 years younger.
Apparently I no longer look like a dodgy old tramp.
I no longer recognise myself in mirrors.
    My hats fit again.

    Short Hair hurts. The Downside:

    It's fucking cold.
It's fucking cold around the back of the ears.
I now have a rampant head cold for only the second time in a couple of
    years.
The impact of the winged beetle landing on the neck can now be felt.
    <twitch>
The Buff neck tube worn as a snood "takes a set" on the velcro-like
hair and is ver' difficult to reposition and "odd" to remove.

Every fucker wants to stroke the bristles. PITA.
I am no longer identifiable from across the street.
I have to wear a hat to ward off hypobleedingthermia.
    It feels weird.
Fucking cold this time of year, innit?

If you weren't there and didn't share in the experience of The Big
Shave, you have an opportunity to vicariously enjoy the discomfiture
in pictures. Fork out a few quid and the url of a big page of
pictures taken by ukrm's finest snappers will be sent to you.

    Go to: http://www.garagepixies.co.uk/The Big Shave.htm
and use the PayPal button on the page to make a donation.

Should you have some quasi-religious revulsion against the use of
online payment schemes, drop Elly[1,2] an email and she will send you
    the
Pixie Central address for cheques, or account details for funds
    transfer.

All funds received will go directly to the Racing Fund for Team UKRM's
assault on the KRC Endurance Racing Championship. After the incident
during the race on Saturday, you will appreciate that rebuilding is
going to cost, so all contributions are most welcome.

The total will be advised next week, but I can tell you that it is
looking pretty fucking good at the present.

Thank you all for your support. I'll shut up now.

    1. Elly is Hair Fund Administrator, Webmistress, Top Burd and
Support, for which I am duly grateful. She puts up with a lot.

The varlet known as Pip did proclaim to all assembled:
Sometimes too well, if its a sod to shut off whilst wearing the lid.
I get that at work - usually from the fit blonde with the great tits,
who has no desire to shag me, tho. :-/
    Ang on a minute! ;-)
You'll get used to it.... beware of sunburn tho - seriously!
If you keep it short, that shouldn't happen again..
    Another week should solve that.
Why won't the blonde let me rub her tits, tho?
I like it - it feels...... clean.

But not as clean as when I shaved it good n proper a coupla years ago.
    Bic disposables are shite!
I'm used to it, and only wear annat when its wet/blowy or really cold.
How do those of us who contributed on the night get it?

  12. <waves> although, I was there, I saw it, not sure why I need/want to
view the pics. Although captions might be interesting. Are there
    captions too?

Oh and back to the original topic, overall, would you recommend it?
I think my time will come, and possibly sooner than I'd like.

I love having short hair. I can't recall the last time I had to comb
it. If it needs combing, it's too long. Also, it doesn't go into a
stupid wedge shape after wearing a lid.

No, if you can still comb it, as opposed to using a brush, it's still
    too short.
Proper long hair doesn't do this either.

little difficult. Are you still using the dsl/pipex email address?

I'm not sure about that. It's not that I'm not sure about having it
done, mind - and certainly I'm sure about the "cause" - but it really
didn't hurt (petrolcan was very gentle ;-)), it wasn't any effort and
the result is not totally displeasing. Thank you, though ;-)
This was under consideration; however ... it appears that the head
hair part of the fungus is eligible for donation to a cancer hospital
for wig-making purposes. Once I can find an address for a UK
children's cancer support organisation, they can have the hair with my
    blessing.

If I can't, then it may have to go to the States - or I will ebay the
critter. It has to go soon as it still needs feeding (well, soaking
with beer every 12 hours) and it is curled up inside my lid looking
    ugly atm.
