Does anybody know what diameter the (valve) shims are in an GTS1000, or
    even a FZR1000 (same head - almost) ?
Yes, I know I could go to the garage, remove the fairing, petrol tank,
radiator (maybe), etc etc, from my GTS, but I would like to know the
diameter before I do all that.
    Thanks awfully..

Well, out of the 3 nearest bike shops:
The first just won't exchange shims, full stop (which is a shame 'cos it's
only just down the road). The second two shops exchange them for half of
the new price, as do a number of other shops. I appreciate they won't do
it for nothing, but that seems a bit too much.
As there are 20 valves to look at and my GTS is ticking like a shop full
of cuckoo clocks, I thought it might be a good idea to rummage around ebay
to see if there are any going for not much money and.....

.....I have spotted an FZR cylinder head, which contains 20 of Mr Yamaha's
    finest shims....

Dammit, I should also have mentioned that I have seen other bike shims and
was wondering if they were the same diameter.

  4. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
The chances are you'll be able to re-use several of the ones you have
and only need to buy 3 or 4.

Swot I do. Still cost me over £20 to do the FZR last time though.
