    Champ :
    "throw all that shit away"

And then send the engine to a tuner, once I find one.

I assumed he was referring to the engine, not the tuner...

And cam shafts & chain & a few other bits.

I'll give Dynotech a ring, see what they say.

    Bear :
Already have done, about 18 months ago...

The amount of work that goes into the 7/9 conversions makes me wince.

A nice simple big bore or long stroke, or both, with extra compression
    and bigger breath-holes plus 41mm flat-slides, and maybe some cam work;
    that's the ticket.

If I can fit the factory airbox under the standard tank, I should be able
to pick one up cheap-ish, if not, the keihins come with the standard float
bowl pressurisation attachments, and I only need to modify the bell mouth
cut-outs to make it all fit together.

Ummm, not that I've been thinking about this at all.

    simonk :

What? A Honda? Sorry, I'm not sure I'm following you?

Yes yes yes, I could just buy a new bike, but I'm fond of the 7R,
and I like owning something that's a bit... well... mine...

Next year, when I will be buying a new (to me, anyway) bike, I'll
be keeping the 7R for track days etc.
