Shimming Simian's ZX7R

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by The Older Gentleman, Aug 30, 2003.

  1. Mid-time bulletin. Four valves need shimming, two can be done by
swapping shims, and Simian has just departed on the 400 Four I bought
this morning in search of two more new shims.

He looked decidedly concerned as he wobbled off on a 28 year-old SOB. I
await the sound of ambulance sirens.

    Cheers Neil.

It sounds like a tricky job. I remember doing the shims on a Hillman
    Imp. That was bad enough.

I'm tempted to ask him to show me how to do them on the fazer, but I
don't know him yet! <fx ponders ways to get to know TOG>

  6. You should have let a proper engineer do the job. I don't know,
    amateurs...

  7. It's all "not required". As those web pages showed...

The ZXR is now minus quite a few pipes...

AIUI you need to adopt a respectful demeanour, and ply him with copious
    quantities of Claret.

IIRC, a lot of the piping is for emission controls?

Need any software development? How about something that extracts info
from a database and puts it into a nicely formatted spreadsheet, or was
    it the other way around...
