Finally found somewhere to ride today.
All tracks were closed due to all the shitty weather we are having ATM.
Found an old piece of wasteland and let rip.
Wow, it has some kick in it, but wasn't too bad once I'd got used to it.

It was tough in the really slippery wet mud but I just thought "**** it" and
    gave it big handfuls.
It worked and cleaned the tyres and gave me oodles of grip.
My mate who was behind on his kx125 was really struggling as he was going
    slower.
I tried to tell him to gas it, but his confidence wasn't up to it.
Silly sod kept loosing the front end because he wasn't accelerating round
    the corners.

    Anyway. It rocked mightily.
Can't wait to get it on a real MX track.

My missus is from The Gower (no not that one).
I'm trying to persuade her neigbour who owns loads of land to
let me have a play next time I'm down.

That Tom's farm looks like a riot. About mid Wales AFAIK.
There are some good places in Swansea that I used to mountain bike around
(Kilvey Hill, Gower and the black mountains), but I
doubt I'll get away with it on evil bastard and loud crosser.

Thanks for the invite BTW I might take you up on it!

no I'm looking to get one for my daughter

    http://tinyurl.com/2693s

this is looking interesting at the moment. Plus I'm sort of hopeful of
selling my scuba gear to raise enough cash to buy a trail bike, only
want to get something simple like an xl125 ... as I only want to
accompany my daughter on some simple trails/forestry tracks.

Seen a couple of these chinese replica xl125's with CG125 OHV engines on
ebay for about a grand and they look interesting for playing with.

My days of dragging enduro bikes around the Tour of Wales Enduro are
long gone I'm getting too old and ache too long after nowadays ;o)

That's a lot of cash for something that she may not like.
MX bikes are much cheaper. £1000 for a mxer goes a long way.
    Trail bikes are really expensive.

    In

This would be an upgrade for my daughter as she already has had a kids
bike previously, just that she was growing out of it. We've just sold
her previous bike and she's holding the pennies in her little mitts
combined with Xmas money from relatives ready for the replacement ..)

The thinking behind going for a trail bike is twofold, I don't need the
noise/power of a crosser and I want to use it on the road occassionally.

You may want to look at the Geraint Jones Enduro School which has now
    become http://www.yamaha-offroad-experience.co.uk ... I went there a few
years ago with Kawasaki when they launched that years enduro kit .. got
to play all day on KDX & KLX 250's and KDX 125's etc .... and found
despite then being a regular off road rider how crap I was next to
    Geraint Jones ;o)

I nearly had a bad one when I was flat out and watched a sunken, big
concrete drain fly past my left.
I had to stop my mate from riding right into it.

Cool. A kid in my class got his first bike, a KTM sx50.
He was well pleased with it when I saw him yesterday.

Well, you have the trails there. Unlike Essex and Kent who are not only
    shutting the trails down, but
are shutting all the MX tracks aswell. Tossers.
I did the www.essexoffroadexperience.co.uk and the Yamaha motocross school.
I've heard of the Welsh one, I'll have to do it one day.
I do fancy doing the BMW one in Brecon, especially on a Dakar style bike.
