Just watched my free "Barry Sheene" DVD courtesy of Bike Magazine. Very good
and informative, and a rather nice put down to the BBC and Thames Television
right at the end of the credits!!

I did miss the crash coverage though. There was only the aftermath of Barry's
bad accident, but no actual film footage. Maybe this is owned by either the BBC
or Thames, and hence the reference to them.

All in all though, a damn good DVD

    Blotto says...
I'm not sure there is any footage at all of his 1982 crash at
Silverstone. IIRC it was in practise, not qualifying, which is rarely
filmed. I've certainly never seen any.

ISTR that there is some footage of it - but wasn't the free DVD a
trailer for a full length commercially available documentary on Sheene?
If it was, they'd be stupid to give the really spectacular stuff away...

I have to admit I didn't notice any dig at the BBC or ITV, though. What
    did it say?

It was the Duke/Bike offer, here's the flyer
    http://www.sweller.co.uk/docs/duke-bike-sheene.pdf

History of the TT (220 mins) for a tenner was worth it.
After the thanks to all the people that helped section of the credits
came the "The Producers were disappointed with the lack of help from the
    BBC and Thames" or similar

2 different DVDs - one was with TWO mag and was a preview of the
'authorised' life story and then, hey presto, EMAP link up with Duke a
couple of weeks later with a free send off offer on the unauthorised
    version....
My guess is that the Beeb/Thames had already committed to providing help to
the 'official' version and therefore weren't much help to Duke.....
