Shaking Steering

It's difficult to keep up a rational conversation if answers are given to
questions that were not asked and if questions are quoted but not
    answered.

    To recap:

Albrecht: "The alert rider perceives a motorcycle that gently rocks from
    side
to side while riding at lower speeds as inherently alarming. It will begin
    to
    shimmy at rather low speed."

    OH- : "WTF?"

Albrecht: "My GS1100 was scary to ride at 100 mph on a race track where
everybody else could go 135 mph."

This thread of postings is suffering from some sort of wobble!

Look, Albrecht's posts are there to help noobs. You're not a noob, which
is why you're being confused by them. That is, Albrecht gets all kinds
of thank-yous from noobs about his posts, so they must make sense and be
relevant. Therefore, if a post by Albrecht appears to an experienced
usenet user (or perhaps motorcycle user, it's not clear what sort of
noob would qualify) to be confusing, irrelevant, or just plain false, it
_must_ be because that experienced usenet (or perhaps motorcycle) user
has picked up so many bad habits without Albrecht that they cannot
understand clear, simple, straightforward technical advice offered
    without any BS whatsoever.

(is that steaming pile deep enough, or should I shovel some more on
there just to make sure? I can never tell how deep the shit should be in
    this group.)

  3. Like saying that "100mph is not low speed". Right......

And if it's a logical objection that destroys your thesis, then what's
the problem? Or would you prefer an illogical objection?

Sorry, but that's not the problem. The problem is that one of the
participants in this conversation is not listening, just talking.

This mess is a shame. Without a doubt you have much knowledge and
experience in the topic for this group. You would get more credit for
    that if you:

    - Stop writing like a politician talks, dodging questions by changing the
    subject.
    - Take the time to read what others post.
    - Use the thread structure to make statements where they relate to
    earlier posts.

It has been observed that 99+% of the content of all democratized
newsmedia is generated by the noisiest 1% of all users.

I think the last life boat departed several hours ago...

"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

    T'was Grace that taught...
    my heart to fear.
    And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear...
    the hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares...
    we have already come.
T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far...
and Grace will lead us home.

The Lord has promised good to me...
    His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be...
    as long as life endures.

When we've been here ten thousand years...
    bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise...
    then when we've first begun.

"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see. "

No, my mistake; I was engaging in sarcasm in an attempt at humor and it
    didn't carry well.

I got tired of Albrecht's bullshit, his cheap strategy of posting
irrelevancies to distract people from his mistakes, his inability to
admit error, his ego, and his "do as I say, not as I do" attitude some
    years ago.

After seeing the cycle of post, correction, irrelevancy combined with
sneering condescension or outrage (or both), re-statement of the
correction followed by an argument about usenet behavior, I decided that
    Albrecht:

-loves the attention or the thrill of the argument, or something about
being the guy at the bottom of the dogpile
-doesn't actually care whether what he posts is right or wrong so long
as people take the correct (respectful) attitude towards him
-will only stop doing this when he's dead

And killfiled him. I don't think that arguing with Albrecht is fruitful,
and I got tired of it. If his errors cause someone to make a mistake,
well there's a limit to what I can do about that. I'll post corrections
as I see the need, but killfiling his posts means that I mostly don't
see them to make corrections. Thus the only time that I see his posts is
when he's started another flame-fest or when he changes names. Sometimes
I don't pay attention to my better judgment and jump in.

This does not really help your cause. As OH says, stick to what you know
    - which is good.

Damn! I really, honestly, suspected so. But my language skills were

Don't feel bad about it. This is something that I do pretty well, both
in person and in writing. And Albrecht has made most of us a bit twitchy
from time to time (hence my killfile entries for the past 5 of his nom
    de USEnet)
