That was another example of the same sort of winning above sportsmanship
    attitude yes :)

    Bullshit.

Rossi ended up on the outside of the track because that's where he needed to
be to put Gibbernuts into the rocks.

Rossi was never on the racing line for that corner. He was on the line that
    would put him inside Gibbers.

It's hard to make a definitive ruling about something like this which could be caused by a case of the red mist though...

It is? How do ya figure that out? So everytime he gets pissed off or
passed, he can ram the other rider cause he has "red mist"?

yea hes not allowed to cover his line, he should just pull over and
let the rest of the field through.

    That isn't what I said :)

I meant that 'the penalty issued for intentional action or not intentional
action should be different, and that it would be difficult to determine
intent under the circumstances' hence it would be difficult to make an
    (appropriate) ruling (fitting) the penalty.

But what I said first is easier to type ;-) [1]

    G-S

[1] I still reckon what I typed first implied all of that though!

Not saying its not the case, but how is having your left foot off the
peg in a right hander an indication of running wide? didnt look like he
    was running wide to me...

    (it was a left hander)

I don't think having your foot off the peg on entry is necessarily a
sign that you are running wide. It could be a sign that you suspect the
rider on your outside might move over on top of you (as seems to have
    happened.)

Well one would not recommend "covering your line" when the other rider
    is already alongside.

Except that he ran right to the outside of the track. That's running wide,
in my book, and it had nothing to do with taking the corner. It was taking
    another rider out.

He ran right to the outside of the track after taking a hefty bump
(including a strong knock to the handlebar) as he was entering the
corner. I'd be hard pressed to stay on the track!

He ran wide & his foot came off peg maybe causing it,or missed gear. But Sete
made no attempt to evade & in on bike shot looked like he turned in on Rossi
,but only Rossi knows what really happened.I have been a fan of Sete since
Repsol days,i also am a Rossi fan, call it a racing accident for now & see
how season goes,it will be the 2 horse race again anyway.Hugh

Counter steering....Sete hit pushed his out side bar, rossi let the brake go
a bit at the point of impact...both those = running wide.

Sete knew he was there...he was looking (or should have been) looking thru
the corner FFS! He chose to call Rossi's bluff and cut him off and came off
    second best...

    IMHO...

Hardly. Rossi was something like a bikelength and a half behind right up
until entry into the corner. With Gibernau on a defensive line (find an
overhead pic of the insident and note how far inside all the rubber laid
down over the course of the meeting he is), where the hell was Rossi
hoping to go except right through the middle of him?

"Oh, but he was going for the win?"

If that's the case, why didn't he keep it together when he hit the lead
with a lap and a half to go instead of putting on a how-to display of
outbraking oneself? What sort of multiple world champion comes up with a
plan which relies on him making up 10m on the brakes in a single corner
and getting ahead of his man by squeezing up the inside of him right on
    the apex... yup, that'll work.
