Quite amusing. This was covered in part by Ken Campbell's Macbeth in
Pidgin and quite a few of his one man shows. <googles>

    Ah-ha. There's a poster here.

What makes that even funnier is the disdain with which Phil the Greek would
regard said natives and what he might call them.

I suppose Gods are meant to be haughty and aloof

yeah - I know - my point was the the concept of "Cargo Cults" is
hardly new, and made into mainstream cultural awareness a long time
ago - there was even a '90s episode of "The Simpsons" based on the
    premise.

    from that page:

"On September 27, 2007, British television station Channel 4 broadcast
Meet the Natives, a reality show about five Tanna natives of the
Prince Philip Movement on a visit to Britain; their visit culminated
in an off-screen audience with Philip, where gifts were exchanged,
including a new photograph of the Prince."

Can we do a sweepstake? I first heard of cargo cults in 1980 (my gf at the
    time was studying anthropology).

Likewise. I mean, not in 1980, i didn't have a gf and I was studying
nothing more advanced than the Sooty Show. But yeah, ages ago. It's not
    exactly obscure stuff.

Sometimes I think TOG still has that on his coffee table.

Or, at least, on the ledge in his khazi.
